The lolz.
"[My grandmother] told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed. You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better."
-- SC Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, on government assistance...
It makes perfect sense. If you stop providing school lunches, poor kids will starve to death before they are old enough to breed.

Saw that on Colbert last night. Hilarious!
He did come back and clarify his statements by saying, "I have nothing against animals"

Thanks 'slice.
Bauer made the comment as part of an argument that people should lose government benefits if they fail drug tests or don't attend parent-teacher conferences or PTA meetings.
"Look folks, if you receive goods or services from the government and you don't attend a parent-teacher conference, bam, you lose your benefits," he said. In a follow-up story, the Greenville News reports that Bauer said "he would penalize only adults and that he never advocated taking away a child's free or reduced-price lunch. His speech was about breaking the cycle of dependence on government aid, he said."
I feel the same way about Haiti.

How does he propose to penalize the adults, then? And who is collecting exact attendance records at PTA meetings anyway?

Being a douchebag for being a politician ballsy enough to say what millions of people across the country say, even if it maybe isn't the most politically correct? Makes sense.

Let's recap:
1. Compares poor people to stray animals.
2. Implies that kids should lose their lunch money, if their parents don't attend PTA meetings. (Mind you, this is in a state with one of the worst, and under-funded, school systems in the country).
3. Later says he "has nothing against animals".
4. Claims remark was taken out of context. Don't they all...
Add it all up, spells douchebag to me.

I don't live in SC but I work in SC. The town I work in brags about having the 'best schools in SC.' Considering SC ranks so low nationally, what are they really saying?

Thats where it becomes tough for the people wh need/can use it to help them get back on thier feet., as opposed to the ones who just want to leetch off of the govt and not get a real job.

I have family who live this life. I know people slightly older than me with six kids.
It makes me angry because there are people who need it, and they get screwed and looked down upon because lazy people work the system for everything they can get..

My mom worked for the Child support enforcement division of social services for 37 years......in her time she saw many faces, but she could keep track of a lot of them. The ones that worked the system would have 6-8 kids starting when they were 13-15....give one to their mom, sister, aunt....etc, so THEY could get support and welfare, and sure enough, when THAT child turned 13-15 they would start producing little profit-sharing generators themselves. It’s a racket and it’s all these people know how to do. It needs to be stopped. But NOW….whoever stops it will be accused of taking food from the mouths of babies. Fuggin ridiculous!
