This is the second gayest thread I have ever seen. It was a close second but the other identical thread got first.

dReWpY

No, while I am at a bar, I'm working not drinking, and the pig trial isn't. Between nashville and alaska

My gramps and dad are coming along for the ride, I'm breaking in the buell the right way

Are you going to go all the way to Prudhoe Bay?! You can't go as far as the Arctic Circle and turn around without going the rest of the way!

If you don't go the rest of the way up the Haul Road, you are a sissy. :lol

I've had to put off my Prudhoe Bay plans for a couple of years now. Right now, it looks like 2012 will be my year finally! LOL

How much have you read up on going to the Arctic Circle Drewpy? Do you have a copy of the Milepost?

The reason I ask is this.

Once you head north out of Fairbanks, you'll pick up the Elliott Highway for about 80 miles. A few miles past Livengood, you'll hit the Dalton Highway. Kiss the paving goodbye. You'll be on gravel road for the next 115 miles to the Arctic Circle. Fill up with gas before you get on the Dalton, as there aren't any services until you get to Coldfoot, which is 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Additionally, if you break down, I've read that the average tow bill is $5/mile. Also, don't forget that there aren't cell towers up there, so if you want phone service, you'll need to rent a satellite phone.

The read between the lines part of this is that your bikes need to have a fuel range of 230 miles with some room to spare, or you better be prepared to carry gas with you.

Heading out of Coldfoot, the next gas is available in Prudhow Bay, 240 miles away. I won't even go into the Brooks Range and all the truck traffic that has the right of way. LOL

Anyway, I wasn't sure how much you had research this endeavour yet, so I wanted to provide a little info. I've been researching and studying the Haul Road for over 5 years in anticipation of my trip to Prudhoe Bay.

If you need any other info, feel free to ask. I've got alot of reference material and info on everything between Fairbanks and Prudhoe Bay.

No Worries

I'd rather ride around Utah for 15 days and wind up at the Mormon Temple and be preached at for several hours than ride to the Arctic Circle. Couple years ago, I went to a Ducati dealer for a lecture by Gary Egan, setter of Iron Butt and trans-continental records. I remember he said that you don't want to break down on one of those roads in Alaska because of all the grizzly bears.

Sitting in the chair now. The worker is about to come over and stick a needle in my arm and tape it down for the next couple hours. I've gotten pretty good at left handed one handed typing.
