I have no complaints. Rolled 200k on my Corvette a couple of days ago.
Other than the regular maintenance items, I've had to give it a water pump, a heater blower motor, and driveshaft and halfshaft u-joints.
Not too shabby in my book. From July of '08 to July of '09 before Carolina deployed, I was racking up 900 miles every weekend and it was a trouble free counterpart, and still is to this day.
Those are still actually built in America. Plant is powered by TVA.

And they're not bland as wet cardboard unlike so much of GM's lineup. :dthumb:

You aren't missing much. Bypass it and go to Mammoth Cave.

My truck is GM, its got 84k on it, I hope it lasts that long. My last car was a ford focus and I gave up on fixing it when I had 3 major fixes that needed to be done within a months time, it made it to 125k.

Beautiful color combo. I definitely like my Torch Red with black leather, but if I couldn't have found that, polo green would have been my next choice.

I like Corvettes, but the 1998 and higher are much much better vehicles.
GM small block V-8s are VG engines.
whats that run in the quarter?

You're right I wouldn't when amazingly enough no one around here can afford a V6 honda that rivals the cost of a cheap Ferrari!

My GMC PU has 258,000 on it and still has the original water pump, hoses, alt etc.. It has been a great truck. Clutch, fuel pump, starter, ign mod & coil is all I've replaced so far, other than normal wear parts.

Hey Trace, since your car is all worn out and all, why don't you just give it to me? I will dispose of it for you.;)

did you mean in texas or on the board? they are less expensive than you'd think, at least they were a few years ago

ghey, look at how long it took gm to equal the output of the last lt5 and then imagine where theyd be today if they gave up on their stupid pushrod fixation

Texas, and the cheapest, oldest, most beatup NSX I ever saw just a few years ago for sale had a $64k pricetag on it. We're talking EARLY 90s with torn up interior and some body damage. However a quick Autotrader search within 200mi of me net like 5 mid90s for 25-45k.
Granted I have nothing really against them, but I think they are overpriced. Still a mid-90s NSX would be hard pressed to be ahead of my Z in a drag race.

So ghey that most automakers still have not even reached the 500+hp level. Hell, your techinical marvel NSX never even equaled the corvette in power. 100K+ new for 315hp? that shit is weak.

Probably having all their engines designed and built by Mercury Marine.

heh, an nsx can do amazing things with that sub 300 hp. especially in the right hands

Simple bolt-on's... Runs mid to high 12s depending on launch.

If I remember correctly Lotus only designed the heads. Everything else was Mercury Marine.

nice, whats your traps? i went 13.1 @ 108 with basic bolt ons in my 92. terrible '60

i think you're right, though i imagine they must have had a hand in the block as well if you consider the design on most pushrod eights has the cam in the middle

Sound like more than a few bolt on's.......What kind? I thought I remembered those cars only did around low 14's stock.

The mods are irrelevant, MY car did 13.9@101 stock with Eagle F1s on the rear. Other Z's have gone as low as 13.79 but it varies too much on driver, conditions and elevation.
Dave - after it was all said and done my avg trap was around 110.

The LT5 had quad overhead cams. It wasn't a pushrod engine.

duh. i was saying they likely helped do the block since the method of timing and block architecture would have been massively different from an OHV

My first car was a GM (1990 Pontiac Grand Prix, 5 speed 3.1).
I put 210,000 miles on it (plus the 10k that was on it when I got it) over the course of 3 years and only put brakes and tires on it (and changed the plugs every 50,000 just because I wanted to). I'd probably still have it it someone hadn't hit me and totaled it.
It's more GM's management that I make fun of, not necessarily their actual product (at least talking about those made 10-15 or so years ago or more)

Guy I used to work with had it with the (89?) 5spd and 2.8. He went through steering racks on that car and eventually got rid of it for a Stanza.
Despite the issues he had with it, I always thought it was a cool car.

From what I hear, I was lucky in that department (between brakes and steering with the W bodies). I never had any issues.
The combination lock glove box was cool as hell too
