Talk about RROD!!!!
http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/plugged-in/u-s-air-force-building-supercomputer-from-ps3s/1387199
this is a big part of why i love sony as a company. you know they were offering PS3 clusters for commercial use right after launch? hardware co > software co. microsoft should give up and go back to what its marginally good at. maybe that would give SEGA the nuts to jump back in the ring

Yes, you can do it with an Xbox... (http://www.xl-cluster.org/index.php)
Or perhaps a PS2... (http://playthrough.net/2007/01/games/ps2-supercomputer-cluster-at-the-university-of-illinois/)
Tigger is just a fanboy. Why ruin that for him?

Meh, both have their pros and cons. The original Xbox was far superior to the PS2... and I was a PS2 guy. Xbox 360's have the RROD - which granted is probably the most significant hardware fault in video game history, but Sony's track record isn't perfect. PS2's are a good example... they used the cheapest lasers they could get their hands on and they failed left and right. Trust me, I've repaired 100+ PS2's and 99% of them were laser failures. Out of the dozen or so Xbox's I've repaired, no one problem has been consistent though I've done a few with botched softmods...
That said, I own an Xbox 360. As far as the console wars are concerned, even beyond RROD issues the PS3 is the superior machine. I expect the tables will turn for the next gen systems depending on each companies marketing strategy. Either be the first one out with a new shiney system... or continue developing technology after your competitors launch and fire back with a superior system. Both companies have tried it both ways... let's see where their stomach is the next time around.
Didn't they do this with the PS2 at some point?

You know I'm mostly just fucking around! I thought that the article was interesting and quite frankly, I'm a little amazed that you can do that and get a computer with that capacity, for that cost, that is that energy efficient.

Me too! I traded in a PS2, about 40 PS2 games, wireless controllers, steering wheels, etc to get my XBox 360 only to have it RROD in about 2 months!!!

meh i think user had something to do with that. Ive had three ps2s over the years, four if you count the jp only psx i had for a while and only the first one had laser problems and even then i had found a method to keep it playable for about two years after it first started having problems

Is that the slim line model? That's what my son has. Knowing him, he beats the shit out of it but it's like a Timex, keeps on ticking.

Does your controller still vibrate? The only issue I had with mine was a fuse going inside the ps2 that handled the vibration and things like the DDR pad.

Not that I know of. I got it a year or maybe two after they were originally released.

killzone 2, uncharted, mgs4, and little big planet arent good games? the only exclusives ive honestly been mad about were jap stuff anyway, AC06, project sylpheed, and the ikaruga port have no business on that platform and werent appreciated as they otherwise would have been by OUR fanbase

MAG just came out. Within 2 months theres Heavy Rain, Yakuza, FFXIII, God of War3, Red Dead Redemtion, Battlefield: BC2, AVP...
360 has Halo, in december, maybe...
They are getting a graphical downgrade of ffxiii though.

It just goes to show how popular games are...I saw them for sale in a restroom at the club the other night. I guess, you buy them if you don't score and are going home to play Little Big Planet... I even saw one that tickles your hand as you play, I'd imagine that would relieve stress and/or cramping during long campaigns of Call of Duty. I don't know, apparently it's made in France and I don't have much use for their products.

That article completely overlooked the fact that some dickhead hacker had found an exploit through the other os option. In order to protect their software sales and the millions of consoles in the wild they HAD to kill it.

Can't they file a lawsuit against the dude that hacked and do the same to anyone else that follows his foot steps? Isn't something in their tos that specifically states they can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law? Or am I thinking of something else..

Maybe, but it "won't put the toothpaste back in the tube" so to speak. What is done is done. Just be glad he made it public so Sony can deal with it rather than keeping it secret and using his ability for his own gains.
