It's the only practical standard left available in the US. Every other "standard" is either very sport oriented, "adventure" oriented, or too ugly to even consider.

I miss the spartan utility of my Nighthawk 750. Now that the Bonneville has ditched its spoke wheels and sprouted fuel injectors, it's only a set of Givi hardbags away from becoming my perfect commuter / tourer. The Triumph is miles more attractive than my CB, and I'm tired of packing all my crap into a backpack any time I ride the SV.

I'd feel more confortable if it had more than one brake disc up front but i'm sure it gets the job done.

I've entertained the notion of getting a Thruxton many times over the last few years; before the Warrior, and before the Buell fire sale.
I just never pulled the trigger and my interest got hijacked elsewhere.

That new Bonnie looks great to me, but I love retro/standards. :wink:
I'm not sure I'm comfortable with them straying too far from the classic look, but if it keeps their sales numbers up so they don't go under, I guess I'll deal.

That engine is beautiful.

The one thing I hate about almost all retro bikes, this one included, is the bread loaf seat.

However, being that it's more expensive, slightly less powerful, and 80lb heavier than my '02 SV650N, I think I'll pass on that one.

i wanted a thruxton untill i took an honest look at the ducati sport classic 1000. now im hoping for an afghanistan trip so i can have one for a daily standard

It is good looking. I like that they fit the injectors into the fake "carbs."
But needs a bit of work... Bar end mirrors being number one. A second brake disc up front would take some work, but it's definitely possible. A fly screen like the STriple. Lower bars, and those cafe knee grippy pad things... yeah that would work.
"Normal" tire sizes would be a huge plus too. A 120 front, 160 rear would like good and be easier to find.

Perhaps It is because I am in New Hampshire and HD' s are as common as as black flies but I am sick of their appearance. Mind you I am not knocking the bike. It is just refreshing to see a bike like a Bonnie or even the new Thunderbird. They do not look like anything else out there.

Bonnies are sweet riding bikes. I rode one for about 300 miles one afternoon/evening. Loved it. The single front disc works fine.

I would like to see one in the old cafe racer style. Throw on some clipons and a racing seat with the aero hump. I also agree on some bar end mirrors. I think it would look sick. I would need to start with the T100 model though for the spoked wheels, front fender struts, and the previously mentioned tank pads.
