went down to check out a bike i was really interested, and it lived up to and beyond my expectations. This CBR was practically flawless. Guy was asking 5.4k, we agreed on 5k, i'm going to pick it up later this week. Frame sliders, Swing arm sliders, Puig windscreen, Jardine exaust.

This guy made me very confident that the bike was well taken care of. Considering he was really only testing waters (he had just bought a new boulevard cruiser) I couldnt really talk him down too much, but for 5k and the condition this bike is in and has been maintained, im very happy.

I'll need to get new tires, well, just because. w/o the right tires it just feels like you're not riding the right bike. I'll end up getting flushies and new signals to replace the notorious ugly honda stock signals. Other than oil chg and possibly some new pads, this thing is ready to go. Only things im changing are out of preference, this thing is almost imacculate. No scratches, no dents, has never been down, shifts flawlessly, starts flawlessly, feels... well... it feels diferent.

Not the same riding stance as my F3. Its gonna take some adjustment to get used to the more agressive stance, but i think partially the reason i was thrown off was because of the tires. They were a little boxed out from commuting. Even still, its like riding a completely different type of bike.

hes throwin in all sorts of gear and crap too, so be sure to look out for some FS threads by yours truely.
Im going to pick her up later this week.

Noice!

I bet if you painted the back of the windscreen silver it would look pretty good against the bike... Make it all yellow... (that is of course if I am remembering you saying that you weren't crazy about the windscreen)

i wasnt, really. but then i saw it and person and it changed my perspective. its actually very very sweet looking when its right in front of you. Dont think i'll mess with it at all. at the very most i may paint the back of it like you said, silver or black.

wonder how much i can get for the stock pipe, parts, etc.

If you paint the back black, it'll just look black with maybe a hint of yellow... that may actually look pretty cool... If you paint it silver, it'll look yellow...

I see the stock cans going on eBay for sub-$50... You'd be better off selling the Jardine if you wanted to recoup some costs... I bet it sounds too good for that shit though... :D

IDK w/ the silver lower fairing, i think it meshes perfectly. Really not all about the blackout scheme, i've seen so many black bikes it doenst even seem cool any more.

If i were to go any color, it'd be white. Trips CBR is still the baddest CBR around IMO. never thought i'd shoot for yellow. If anyting other than red, it was gonna be blue.

But shit grows on ya. plus i dont think i've EVER seen a yellow 03 600, they're like nonexistant.

And if you want people to actually SEE your turn signals, stick with the stockers. I have some small led flushmounts on my cbr and they might as well just not even be on there.

Yea me too! I very rarely take anyone riding with me. My pegs and seat are usually in the closet. Btw I'll check around but I think that the cowl from a 1000 fits your bike as well. You just wanted a new bike and figured if you slid into a gaurdrail you could get a new one. I see your angle.

Just curious but do you still have the bike and do you plan to part it out? I need some spare rims if they are good. Plan to do a lot of long trips this year and want to put some interstate oriented tires so I don't wear out my PPs

I know you are going to quote "So I don't wear out my PPs" and cut out the rest.

F U man. I'm going to Deal's Gap tommorow and I'll crash my F3 and get a F4 instead and I'll show you. How's that better you ask??? Well it's This F4 (http://www.mvagustausa.com/web-mvagusta/07_F4_CC.html)

Damn man. I was at the Honda dealer today and since it was "New Glove Day" I picked up my Cortech gloves for my summertime riding.

Well they had 4 new 1000RRs in there and all I could do was drool on them(Then violate them which got me kicked out for some reason). I wish I could get one and was tempted to see if I could(I doubt it though). Except my insurance would be roughly $200-300 a month.

apparently the guy he got it from works for a dealer, and he owed him a favor... a very expensive favor.

he bought the bike off him for that much, and im SAYING i bought the bike of him for that much. If i need proof of purchase price for re-sale i still have my bill of sale to clear things up w/ a potential buyer down the road.

Smittie61984

I saw it too. Didn't realize what it was until my friends said "Did you see that $150,000" bike? I thought they were referring to some of those gay ass choppers I saw there. Hell I was drooling over the $25,000 Agusta.

If I did have that bike I would tell everyone I ride a F4.

Also one thing I love about Atlanta is it is full of all kinds of people from all over the world. Plus there is a lot of money here so people can fork over big bucks for cool toys. At a local Wednesday night bike night that is actualy 30miles from Atlanta I remember seeing 3 Brand New MV Agustas pulling up along with 4 brand new Ducati 1098s. And you'll see them all in the mountains too. I think I remember seeing a chick on one at a gas station one time before hitting the twisties.

simmer down there pumpkin patch, twas a joke.
sportrider dyno'd a 2000 r1 at 127 hp stock so most were probably around 130.
http://images.sportrider.com/bikes/146_02_z+2000_r1_dyno_chart+.jpg
If the previous owner was able to pull an additional 35 hp out of that engine without switching to FI so be it but a 2005 stock r6 made 110, only 17 down from the 2000 r1 in 5 years of development.
http://images.sportrider.com/bikes/146_02_z+2005_yamaha_yzf_r6_dyno+hptq_copy.gif

I'm honestly not trying to own him or anything, I'm just saying that my joke about a 600 from last year being more powerful than his 2000 r1 was referencing the incredible development pace of sportbikes, not that 2000 r1's were weak bikes.
Quite the contrary, the first R1's were wildly powerful in their day, restarting the liter bike market with the emphasis on supreme power and light-weight which outlines the class to this day.

My liter's only an 03 and apparently makes LESS power than trocks older r1.

Yes but it was never dynod, it's just using the yoshimura supplied fuel map. Full yosh street exhaust, pc3 and upsized ram-air intakes. I would guess it makes 160ish, stock they're rated around 152.
The fueling is perfect and progressive so I haven't been motivated to get a custom map.

I remember when I had my YZF1000 (130 hp btw)and all the mags were including the GSXR750 in the liter class comparos and it was holding it's own. I know you all hate GSXRs but as a point. For most years, all the GSXRs are basically the same bike, same basic frame, swingarm, ergos, etc. So to say that one is "bulkier" than another is ridiculous. If I'm not mistaken, they always stay within a few puonds of each other as well...:2cents: Oh and in '97 Yamaha took a page from Suzuki's playbook and made all three of their bikes almost exactly the same between the 600,750 and 1000.
