I'm so tired of winter and the cold that I'm going to kick the next person I hear mention "global warming" in the nuts, even if they are just saying it's bullshit because I'm freezing my balls off here in Georgia. At least you guys do get snow when it gets freezing cold. We just get below freezing temps with wind and no snow to play in. If we get something then it is ice and I'm stuck working on broken telephone poles because someone from the north goes out because they were making fun of how "Southerners panic when it snows" and discovered that despite they can drive on 5' of snow, they can't drive on a 1/4" of ice.
The snowmobile would make things nice, but I'd rather have it at a Rocky Mountain ski home and then fly to somewhere warm like Florida or Iraq once I'm bored.

On trails, yes. Around ND it is 55 mph unless otherwise noted on trail maps or on the trails.
Out in the boonies, nothing really, but landowners can cause a fuss if they want, and fish and game can mess with you as well.

Mine tops out in the mid 90's right out of the box (snow conditions have to be perfect for that - mine isn't a race-ready sled). It won't get there nearly as fast as Apoc's though. My BIL's Firecat F6 will get there fairly quickly.
In NY the trail limit is 55. We have rules for everything here.
In my pic above, I have the analog on tach and the speedo on digital but you can swap them.

I had an '81 Arctic cat Jag, 440 cc kawasaki engine, single carb. That tops out at 84 mph.
We used to run on Pecks Pond ( Poconos in PA ) and the Pen Argly race team had their drag sleds up there tuning.
We go screaming past them wound tight and they would time their launch when we were even. ( keep in mind I'm doing 80+ mph )
By the 1/8 mile mark , we would be even and they would still be carrying the skis up in the air past the 1/4 mile mark. Made me look like I was out there on ice skates

Speed Limits
50 km/h - on snowmobile trails
20 km/h - on roads where the speed limit is 50 km/h or less
50 km/h - on roads where the speed limit is over 50 km/h

As awesome as they are for the purpose they were built for, they are horrible trail sleds.
The M series are dedicated deep powder sleds. The Crossfire 1000R has the same engine, with a 128" lag, and is much better on trails
But the M1000 is very maneuvarable in deep snow, the crossfire, not so much.
Thats why I was kinda suprised ParticleMan mentioned so much trail riding, the bearcats arent great trail sleds, more of a trailbreaking/work machine. Though they are great family sleds, so if his wife and little girl enjoy it, I understand.

Ok, its not a bearcat. But it is built on almost the same chassis. The tunnel is extended, I didnt realize the t500 had a shorter lag.
The shorter lag alone would make all the difference in handling.

yeah - there's part of me that finds the Bearcat pretty cool but the other side of me remembers that it's a PIA to handle in the deeper snow in anything other than a straight line and heavy on the trails.
So far, I have 625 miles on the T500 and I really like the handling - it's better than I anticipated it would be, that's for sure. The Twin Spar makes a ton of difference in the handling of bumps as well. As soon as I get the time I'll write a full review.

But his wife could take the daughter on the old sled, and he coulda rocked a new RMK Assault or F8!!
Yeah, around here there are a lot of wide open fields and flats. The M is nice for the ride, and the Xfire is good for a combo if you want to ride the trails some. The F's you just get beat up.

????
The f series has been voted the most comfortable trail sled on the market by pretty much the whole industry. Its a hell of a lot more comfy than a crossfire or M-series, and I have extensive time on all three.

Ya, this occured to me a while ago, if she's talking about the pre-07 f-series, I can understand! The Twin Spar F series are like cadillacs!

I'm not a she ya dick.
But yeah, it was a 06 F7 vs. the 07 M1k.
I not not been on a Xfire, but I figured the longer track would make for a smoother ride over the F. :idk:

Ya, I confused you with Fleck750 there for a while.
longer track doesnt change smoothness, if anything they hit harder, the big improvement in modern sleds is the 12-14 inches of travel they have, and much better shocks (Fox gas shocks on mine). Lots of adjustability for both aggressive riding and comfort.

Fox gas shocks on mine
this is going to be a summer mod I think

I never would have considered it worth it on a sled if mine hadn't come with them stock. But after riding with the regular spring fox shocks that come on em, on my friends F8, I could never go back. Totally worth it.
I think they are about 800$ for the front, not sure what the rear costs.
May wanna look at Ohlins if your not worried about the price, though! Yum yum!

Crossfire 800 would be my sled of choice if I were to get one.

My uncle has the 1000R (128inch lag), and im not a huge fan, not compared to the f8 and F1.

The $800 for the Fox I can probably justify with my wife but not the almost $1,600 for the Ohlins

When I said ' if your not worried about the price', I really meant, 'If your wife understands the true beauty of fine craftsmanship'... And I pretty much knew the answer was no!

So any of you guys make "muffler meat"? LOL. Saw that on a Bizarre Foods show in Alaska. Pretty cool actually. they make cookers that attach to the exhaust manifold and cook food while your riding. Need one of those for my bike.

They use them a lot in the mountains for cooking hot dogs. Not a lot of places to buy a meal in the rockies.

Well, at least they know it still ran and drove after being flipped. Maybe not so much by the time they get to it again, depending on what solid object stopped it!
