I'll watch sports but I dont get all boner about them. Growing up in a state where football is first, then academics really can annoy a person. Sucks when I was in high school and most the school money went towards football than shit that we really needed. So yes, I have some hatred towards football.

That game was one of the best sporting events of the last year. I thought both teams played really hard and clean. And I was happy Canada won because
A) Canada is a badass country and
B) It means so much more to them to win gold on their home ice than it would've meant to Americans.

It made me miss hockey. I used to watch every single Stars game...for three years leading up to the strike. Since the strike I haven't watched a single full game, I just got really turned off after spending money on tickets, flags and jerseys that all the sudden there was no hockey to watch. The NHL forever lost me as a fan...

Well he is a pittsburgh penguin, he lives and works in Pittsburgh. He is part of that city.

Vilma isn't a New Orleans native, he is from Haiti. However, New Orleans claims him as a Saint. Brees isn't either, but now he shares a very huge connection to that city.

There is always a connection with the big names and the towns they play for, if they don't want to be claimed that way, they need to stay in their hometowns.

I disagree, if your guys had the heart and passion, you'd have had the team full of superstars. The olympics isn't about 17 days. It's about a lifetime of training to be the best in the world.

The most deserving team got the medal, there were no screw jobs or botched calls. It was a good game that your team lost. Suck it up. A congratulations would have been nice. Crosby is an all around better player than gretzky. Gretsky was a superior goal scorer, but couldnt play all around like crosby does.

Sucks when I was in high school and most the school money went towards football than shit that we really needed. So yes, I have some hatred towards football.

I live near the University of Georgia. Probably the shittiest ass fans I have ever met who get more bent out of shape about nothing than I have ever seen. Just say "Tim Tebow" who I guess is some quarterback for Florida and they flip out then commit suicide (which I love). Then go on about how stupid of a pet a Bulldog is and they go nuts and try to justify they are great dogs to own and that they are smart. Do that dog a favor and kill it. It wants to die so let it die. You walk around with your nose punched in all day and unable to close your mouth or stop farting and see how much you like life.

I guarantee its not 90%. Edmonton and calgary alone are 5 million people, and they arent anywhere close to 100 miles from the border. Theres another 1.5+ million in the maratimes that arent that close. Im not sure where they got that number in the vid kell posted.

6.5 million of 35.0 million is 20 percent who dont live near the border, and theres plenty more.

But yes, a lot of our country isnt that hospitable. Thats why we still have wilderness left to explore, hunt, fish, hike, climb, kayak, and ridesleds, dirtbikes and quads in.

Same as ovechkin, he's a big, tough goal scorer, but he isnt an all around player, no matter what support he does or doesnt have.

COME ON. You can't be seriously saying Crosby plays better defense than Ovechkin??? Sidney Crosby??? That fairy puff?? Thats just rediculous. I'm on the ice crew for the Jackets, (aka the Columbus Blow Jobs) and have been on the same bench as Crosby. I've spent a whole game just watching and breaking down Crosby and Malkin from 10 feet away. Shit Malkin plays better defense than Sid. I have no respect for a star that lets his big boys watch his back. Sure he isnt as big as Ovechkin, but shit, ovechkin puts his body on the line every night.

Come on man, were not talking about teams here. Dont take that out of context. The only reason Canada wiped through everybody was because the roster was chocked full of superstars and captains. Every other team had one or two, but Canada had like fucking 13. Canada was the best fucking team, just amazing!

Girly man Malkin though??? Have you ever seen the guy in person?? Wait, have you ever seen any of these guys in person. No? I'm not knocking Sid's talent at all, but he is a tiny premadonna punk. I skated right past him in pre-warmups before they had any gear on. I wouldnt even go near Malkin. I have no idea where you are coming up with "girly man Malkin". Malkin is one of the bodies that is protecting Sid game in and game out. Don't make up stuff to prove a point.

Lets talk stats though. Numbers talk.

Hart Memorial Trophy- Ovechkin 2, Crosby 1, Malkin 0
Art Ross Trophy- Ovechkin 1, Crosby 1, Malkin 1
Lester B Pearson- Ovechkin 2, Crosby 1, Malkin 1
Maurice Rocket Richard- Ovechkin 2, Crosby 0, Malkin 0
Calder Memorial- Ovechkin 1, Crosby 0, Malkin 1

So Ovechkin has 8 major League Awards, Crosby has 3, and Malkin has 3. Yes, Crosby has the major trophy in Mr Stanley's cup, but we aren't talking about teams here. Take Ovechkin out, and take Crosby out, and Pittsburgh is a much more complete team than Washington. :dthumb:

Ovechkin is the best player in the league right now.

Crosby plays more like gretzky did. He relies on bigger guys to keep him out of trouble, while he gets the goals and glory.
Ovechkin is a more complete hockey player.

"Have you seen any of these guys?" I think everybody up here knows of or is a friend of a friend with a few nhl'ers..

Luongo played for our junior team that's not 20 minutes away from our home town in NB. Crosby is from one town over from where I'm living now. Nagi played for Halifax's junior team. :lol

Nope, never seen one of these guys play in person..

Ya, theres no NHL in Canada.

Pork Chop is retarded. Crosby is 5'11, 200lbs. Hardly 'tiny'..

And Karl, Ovechkin isn't even the second best player in the league.

Hart Memorial Trophy- Ovechkin 2, Crosby 1, Malkin 0
Art Ross Trophy- Ovechkin 1, Crosby 1, Malkin 1
Lester B Pearson- Ovechkin 2, Crosby 1, Malkin 1
Maurice Rocket Richard- Ovechkin 2, Crosby 0, Malkin 0
Calder Memorial- Ovechkin 1, Crosby 0, Malkin 1

Oh, you forgot two....

Gold Medals: Crosby 1, Ovechkin 0
Stanley Cups: Crosby 1, Ovechkin 0

what do you know, they are the two that count most too.

I watch as much hockey as you do Porkchop, and I've seen them all play. Ovechkin is a showoff goal scorer, nothing more. Crosby works his ass off.. Crosby is the better all around player, any day of the week. Hell, Nash is a better player than Ovechkin. He just needs a team around him.

Say what you will about me. 5' 11 is a padded number. Almost all small athletes have padded numbers. I'm 6' 2. Dude is small....

Hey Apoc can you read????

"Yes, Crosby has the major trophy in Mr Stanley's cup, but we aren't talking about teams here. Take Ovechkin out, and take Crosby out, and Pittsburgh is a much more complete team than Washington. "

You keep going back to teams and team awards here. So far your argument has been been complete shit. You have yet to even begin to explain how Crosby is a better player. Only that he has a "gold medal". He is a GREAT player. I can only dream of the talent that guy possesses on the ice. But I dont like players who get protected all game and stand at the goalpost waiting for passes and junk rebounds. I do that..... because I don't have skill. Shit, there are multple people on the Canadian team that I think are better players. And I like Nash, but I think he gets lazy at times.

im 6'4 and he's still not small. I have met the guy when he played q league, he wasnt small then.

And he has never stood around waiting for passes. He digs constantly, which is why he gets all those ASSISTS. And he definately doesnt have a line protecting him. I think you have him confused with 99.

Next time you see pittsburgh play, watch for 87. He'll be the guy making plays, and getting the puck to the net, making Malkin look good.

Scouts were 'courting' him at 13. And it wasnt just here, all of Canada knew who he was. He dominated the Q like noone before or after him.

I agree its an endless arguement. Its pretty subjective. But to say the man sits in front of the net and waits for passes? Thats just being a hater. If you said that about gretzky, i'd agree.

But, I also think lemieux was better all around than the great one too.

Chara isnt 'big', he's abnormally huge. Guys that size usually have a hard time to skate, let alone play hockey. He's the exception, not the norm.

And you must not have watched him play very much, he checks all the time.

Chara is not that big either. I saw him in a bar when he was playing for Ottawa and he was tall, but skinny like the rake.

A US first grade teacher explains to her class that she is an American. She asks her students to raise their hands if they are American too. Not really knowing why but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like flashy fireworks. There is, however, one exception. A girl named Kristin has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I am not an American." "Then", asks the teacher, "What are you?". "I'm a proud Canadian," boasts the little girl. The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She asks Kristin why she is a Canadian. "Well, my mom and dad are Canadians, so I'm a Canadian too. "The teacher is now really upset. "That's no reason," she says loudly. "What if your mom was a crappy hockey player, and your dad was a crappy hockey player? Would that mean that you're a crappy hockey player too?"
A pause, and a smile.

Then, says Kristin, "Nope! That'd mean I'm an American!"

The fact of the matter still remains that the US played above expectations and the Canadians played below expectations regardless of winning the gold.
