View Full Version : 03/11/10. R.I.P. Tobacco habit. Day 1 - Tobacco free

Notice I said Tobacco, not nicotine. I just received my order from www.modernvapor.com. Basically, instead of smoking tobacco to get nicotine I've replaced it with an electronic cigarette that vaporizes a flavored nicotine.
You smoke it just like a cigarette, it hits the back of your throat like a cigarette and you get your nicotine fix. What you don't get is the horrible smell, taste or other bad qualities of smoking. I won't sit here and say its perfectly safe or anything, cause I'm still inhaling a drug into my lungs. BUT, I believe it to be much more healthy than smoking tobacco.
Anyway, this thing kicks ass. I'm "vaping" on some chocolate mint right now. Get this...I'm fucking smoking IN THE HOUSE (I've never done that) and its making my breath fresher. Wow.

Is it still considered addictive because of the nicotine?
good luck
BTW the rest of us have celebrated a new year and are now in 2010. :lol

Yes. For example, if you didn't smoke and you started "vaping" with a nicotine liquid you would get addicted.
But, they make flavor liquid in varying dosages of nicotine from 0mg to 32mg I think. I'm in the middle since I was a light smoker before. You can ween yourself down to 0 nicotine if that's your goal.
I just smelled my own hand....AND IT DIDN'T MAKE ME GAG!! WOOHOO!

My team lead at work has been doing this for a while and it's working great for him.
Apparently, like many things, there is a whole fan community and apparently some pretty creative modders too. Everything from larger, enhanced battery packs to those who mix their own vaping fluids.
Cool stuff for nicotine geeks. :D

Yea, there's a whole e-cigarette world out there, its crazy.
I have had absolutely no urge to smoke a cigarette today. So far so good.

Why not? If you get to 0mg
Kaneman

Why not? If you get to 0mg
Because I like smoking. Or I should say, I like inhaling. I do plan to get to 0mg...and if real evidence comes out someday that vaping is extremely detrimental to your health then I would stop at that point. But outside of that, I don't plan on quitting.
Vaping actually tastes good, its like a whole nother world.

My Father-in-Law had one of those but they got upset with him when he tried to use it on a plane. It does emit that faint steam and the tip of it lights up like a ciggy. Pretty crazy little invention. He eventually quit cold turkey after smoking a couple packs a day for something like 55 years. He had an ER visit while he was here once for bronchial spasms. Luckily my brother was the ER doc and he told him to get off the cigs. He hasn't smoked since.

The one I got actually produces as much or more vapor than a cigarette does smoke. Mine is black with a blue LED tip so it doesn't look like a cigarette, but I have no intention of "Vaping" in places where I wouldn't normally smoke. Then I would have to explain it to people....which means conversing with the general public....no thanks!

My team lead vapes right here in our control room.
I don't know what the official company stance is on such things... dunno that they've even thought to evaluate it... but it doesn't bother us. There's no unpleasant odor. I don't even know he's doing it unless I go over to his side of the room.
But I can see where some people might see someone exhaling the vapor and get all freaked out.

I paid $92 after shipping and tax which included two complete 902 PV's (personal vaporizer), 5 extra blank cartridges and two bottles of nicotine juice (e-juice).
Still haven't smoked a cigarette....still haven't had an urge to.

Been over two weeks now, still haven't smoked or really had a craving to smoke an actual cigarette. 3 good friends of mine have made the switch now with similar results. One of them, a pack a day smoker, is down to a pack a week now...just like that.

Believe it or not, it wasn't hard at all. Pretty easy when you cheat like I did.
Even though I'm out of shape from the offseason, my "to and from" downtown Fort Worth time on my bicycle is the same as it was at the end of last season (Around November). I wasn't gasping for breath or anything before, but I can easily tell a difference in lung performance.

My team lead is still going strong with his, although he did fall off the wagon briefly this last week due to a lapse in his vaping juice supply.

I got one of these recently and I like it. I haven't quit smoking entirely but I am down to 2 or 3 a day from around a pack a day. I went with a Joye 510. It came pretty highly recommended for people trying it for the first time. I was able to get a starter kit (2 complete 510s with 5 empty cartridges), a longer life battery, an extra atomizer, 10 extra empty cartridges, and 5 10ml bottles of liquid for $90 shipped. If you are willing to buy through a Chinese website the prices are even lower, but shipping takes longer and costs more.

It seems to work pretty well but I also have no other frame of reference since the 510 is the only one I have used. The only real issue I have with it is the batteries do not last a hell of a long time. You may want to consider one of the portable charging cases.

Or look at the forums and find some ideas for building a custom battery pack from readily available parts.

I was thinking of buying one for my buddy next door. I just need to check if he will use it before I blow out $75 for a starter kit and some extra stuff.

Its going pretty good man. Me and most of my friends have made the switch.
One note about product though, I've only found one source that I trust to get me a quality vape, and that's from www.healthcabin.net. They ship from China, and sell the "Joye 510" and not a cheap clone of it like I ended up getting from one of my orders.
www.vaporbomb.com has the best eliquid.

Have you smoked?

Shitty. I haven't touched it in about a month. I'll give it another shot soon but I've found I don't enjoy it as much as a regular cigarettes and it is more of a hassle for me.

So link me. I've been cutting WAY back on my smoking and am seriously considering quitting. I was a pack+ per day guy, and I'm now down to about 4-5 per day (more when I drink). I like this vaping concept and might decide I want a starter kit for my birthday. Hook me up with links to the best starter kits and give me an idea of what I'm looking at.

e-cigarette-forum.com is a good resource for information.
I have ordered from americaneliquidstore.com (Joye 510 starter kit, extra battery, extra atomizers, extra cartridges and some liquids), litecigusa.net (personal charging case, USB passthough, and some atomizers), and awesomevapor.com (some liquids). I can't complain about service from any of the three. One thing, search for coupon codes for any place you may want to order from. Almost all of the places selling this stuff have sales running constantly.

I was at first, and then switched over after trying a friend's. The "mods" are the best ones, and usually put out more power which means more vape. It definitely won't work if you don't get a good one, that's why I recommend the Joye 510 from healthcabin. Its cheaper from them too.

Pot gets you high!
I'm always glad to hear of people quitting. My grandpa died of emphysema and he didn't touch a cigarette a day in his life. But he was a truck driver and they all smoked along with my Grandma for many years.
I always find it funny how people who quit smoking always comment about how they can smell smokers so easily. I argued with a friend for years about how bad he stunk and when he quit he was amazed at how he could smell the smoker at a grocery store checkout and be 5-6 people back from the smoker.
