I know there are a lot of variants to this question, but what do you think is the longest a rider should be on his/her bike in a day?

Good question. I think it depends on the mindset of the rider. I've done up to 600 mile days with no trouble. Not sure what goes on at miles higher than that.

I dunno.
Probably depends a lot on the bike and the biker.
Lots of variables. :idk:

Thinking real hard on a destination that is almost 1300 miles away so I'd have to at least travel that much a day.

lots of variables, rider and bike are big ones. I've done 400 miles in a day on my first EX500, but it was a long time ago.

depends WILDLY on the Rider, bike, conditions(road and weather), rider's condition (mindset, fatigue, health, ect).
for me in perfect conditions... I can do 800 comfortably... in 24hrs... I'll be exhausted at the end... but still alert enough to feel safe.
I have had day's where I hit the 400 mile mark and felt completely shattered. I stop and try a long break.... if that doesn't work, I stop for the night.

yeah when I do long trips I'll do 14-18hrs commonly... probably only 10-14hrs of the at is actual riding... but still.
can't do many of those back to back... but have done 16hr days back to back... not as bad as you'd think when all your doing is riding.

I've done this in almost 16 hours. If we didn't have to go somewhere that night, I would have stayed out. Sorry about the pic.

At 52 with a less than active lifestyles I find that I get hyper-vigilant after 400 or so miles. I am sure that there are riders who can do far better than that but that is where I hit the "time to settle in point"

I've done close to 1100 miles a day a few times. It's all in what you get used to. Now if you've never done a 500 mile day, I wouldn't even consider it.
I can do 800 mile days for 2 weeks straight. Done it. It's easy for me. Just have to know when you are going to hit the wall and stop BEFORE that.
