We didn't really seem to find a lot of v-nosed ones. With the low profile on this it should be a lot better on fuel.

Very nice.

Do yourself a favor and ditch the chocks.

Then spoil yourself and get the PitBull trailer restraint system.

True-The V nose is mainly for storage. This guy has the right idea.

Looking at this system for tiedown as well. A bit pricey, but looks good.

Best system out there.

A bit pricey but you never have to deal with straps again.

My frinds have em and love em. I was thinking about getting a pair if I upgrade my HF trailer this year, but am still not sure what I will do about all that.

Pitbull system might have to wait until next year. Would it work for a cruiser too?

My father and his buddies have big cruisers so the trailer needed to work for me and him.

It is, without a doubt, the BEST transport system that exists. It currently is not available for cruisers. But, the system is flat on the floor - so you could use it for your bike and it wouldn't interfere with another bike.

I can't tell you how many trackdays and races that I've gone to - and everytime I [or someone else] open a trailer there is that little bit of oh my god I hope everything is upright sick feeling before the door opens. With this - NO worries.

Congrats on the trailer. But, I've even ditched the regular chocks and went with sport chocks that hold the bike upright for me while I tie them down. That, and I can take it out of the trailer and use it trackside.

Nice rig. I've got a trailer ordered. Can't wait to get it fabricated. It is the complete opposite of yours. Very minimalist.

No, it won't work for cruisers but it the system that Vator posted looks like a similar set up for the big bikes.

Like Zoomie said, the plate is nearly flush with the floor so it won't interfere if your Dad & friends are using the trailer for their bikes.

Sport chocks? (can you tell I don't know what the heck I'm talking about with this stuff )

I like the idea of being self sufficient. Right now I roll up with my bike in the back of a pick up truck and get my buddies to unload it for me. With this one I can unload it myself. I hate having to ask for help.

baxley or condor chocks. you can use em for either cruisers or sportbikes, and can install mounting plates on the floor so you can take them out

Yep, I love my cheapo Harbor Freight units! I'm thinking about buying a cheap trailer and will probably make a system like the Pit Bull to go with it. Some threaded rod, some spacers, tube steel.... Heck, I'm surprised that HF doesn't already sell something like that for $49.99:lol:

I have a Condor that I use in the garage and in the bed of my truck. I still have to strap down. This is where most of the worry comes from. If I can by a solid one piece tie down that I am confident in-then that's a plus.

I say look at the cost of your bike and the cost of a good tie down. What would it cost if a strap lets loose and your bike is flopping around in the trailer for a hundred miles? Cheap piece of mind if you ask me.

Condor says you dont need front straps, I dont want to test that theory and tie down the front anyway.

Me too! I do think that if I rig up something similar to the PB system and use my "Condor-like" HF front chock, I should be quite safe.:idk: I'll probably still use straps anyway... The good thing about the HF units is that they have tie down points built in...heavy duty ones at that.

Right, I read that somewhere. :panic: I've seen major trailer-carnage from going over a bump and bikes falling into each other. No WAY I would leave a bike just rolled into a chock.

Please note - if you use a sport chock in a trailer you MUST have something that the chock goes up against - OR do four points of tie down to make sure the chock doesn't slide forward making the tie downs loose.

I also swear by tie loops rather than canyon-dancers or other ties that go onto the grips. We use them in the BMW Semi, the bikes are too close to use anything on the grips. After tieing down 40 bikes at a time in the two level semi again and again using straps on the lower triples is a better and better idea.

CrazyKell

I like the straps better than the canyon dancers too.

The chocks will probably work for this year, or if I can convince my father to move his "condor" (not sure of the brand of his) I'll be using that too.

It's a bit much for 1 bike to the track but I have a lot of buddies that I'm sure might want a ride too.

At the NYC motorcycle shows they have a booth and give demos how you dont need them, then they throw a big cruiser in one and rock it around.

I have to drive through some truly horrendous roads getting out of NYC and I usualy have to check and tighten my straps back down by tthe time I get to jersey. So without them I am sure my bikes would be all over the crossbronx expressway.

Side to side isn't the issue - and they ALWAYS rock them side to side.

It's over a speed bump or other inadvertant BUMP that would have that baby going up and down that would be the problem. Putting that much faith in something a tire can go UP out of... I'll put a few $15 straps on just for peace of mind.

I have people bitch about the possibility of a blown fork from tieing down too tight - I'd rather blow a fork than lose a bike. And - MAN but we tie them down REALLY tight in that semi. Haven't blown a fork in years - and they get tied down about every weekend...

I usualy run a strap around the front of the chock and front wheel just for that reason also.

Some of this can almost reach oil or tire threads withthe threat of blown fork seals or weather to use or not use canyon dancers ;)

I tie down a different way now. I don't compress the forks so there's no chance of a blown fork from being too tightly tied.

I have always taken the idea that I can replace the fork seal for $20, so i just crank the front end down as hard as I possibly can and hope it wont fall over. So far i havnt blown a fork seal or dropped a bike

Nice trailer.
I'm thinking of converting a horse trailer with living quarters into a bike/atv trailer with living quarters at some point.
Much cheaper (and smaller) than a toy hauler.

I've seen some very nice converted sleeper trailers, full kitchens, fold down beds, couches and other living quarter type of stuff, you can really go all out and still have room to haul your bike

My favorite way to tie down has always been the frame sliders that convert into tie down points. If I were trailering a lot again, I would put them back on my bike. They can't be beat for tying down...as a frame slider, well that's another story.
