My daughter is taking the class on Friday. With any luck she will have her license on Monday. She is 15. In Texas a 15-year-old can get their motorcycle license before their car license. Must have a drivers permit, msf, 250-or less street legal bike, helmet, no passengers, no freeway, daylight riding only (unless they are returning home from a school event).
Her 2009 baby ninja awaits!

Has she done track days before? If yes, I'm surprised I haven't noticed her at H2R yet. If no, I'm surprised you didn't start her at the track!

Not public events, last year she had school during them. And, this year she was at her father's.
Oh, she's going to www.totalrider.com

Awesome for Jordan! Tell her good luck for me!
Although, with some of what I've seen in Austin, I think I'd be more comfortable with her on the highway than some of the city streets....
Can't wait to hear how she does!

tell her not to sweat "the box" , esp on the final eval. other eval. exercises will cost more points then "the box"

She's a smart girl - I haven't told her anything about the course, the tests, or what to expect. I have learned that too much information about it only increases someone's stress level. I'll let her instructors teach her what she needs to know for the course.
I'll drop her off and leave her in capable hands. That helicopter parent crap is best left to other parents than myself.
Does that mean I'm not nervous FOR her?? Hell no  I'm nervous, probably more than she is.

I actually have no idea what the regulations are for getting one of those 2-smokers licensed for the street.
I just had to throw it out there because Moira is my Euro-elitist friend :D

Haha, its sad that she will complete it before me. No, I could have scheduled earlier in the year, but didn't want to deal with the rain. I start mine the 20th. Until then my temps will be ok.

The best way to deal with getting one licensed for the street is to buy one from someone who has already done it. They aren't common but you can usually find a few RS250s for sale with a tag. The more difficult problem would likely be getting it insured, for a 15 year old new rider, in Texas, for less than the cost of financing a Desmosedici RR.

All our bikes are liability only. Total of $65 a year. Adding her increases the policy by $15.
I want to keep her on the motorcycle and off the car policy. That one isn't as cost effective.

That is pretty manageable.
I was living in Texas when I first got my drivers license and even back then (longer than I care to think about) it was expensive as hell for me to be covered full comp on 2 cars. For the same on the muscle car my dad had at the time (not in good shape either) we were quoted over $5k per year. For obvious reasons that didn't happen.:td:
