I need some luggage for my FZ1, but don't want to pay givi prices.

Would like to get hard stuff. Waterproof.

Any suggestions?

Givi is one of only a few options you have unfortunately.

Corbin makes the Beetle Bags, but those are useless for any real touring in my opinion. They're too small and ill-shaped.

I have Krausers on my Hayabusa, but the distributor for them doesn't carry them anymore I think. Check twistedthrottle.com You may be able to find the bags and racks used possibly, but new, they were equal to the Givis, so I'm not sure that the price will fit what you're looking for.

Good luck.

there are a bunch of knockoff pannier/trunk companies out there. May want to hit up PJ and see what he can get his hands on.

advrider may have an answer too.

JC Whitney. Several folks on the local boards have them, and say they are pretty good quality.

Ammo boxes. My buddy Brad has those mounted on his Vstrom.

I've seen people get racks from Happy trails, then mount Pelican cases to them. Saw a KLR with a couple last oct...

he used the top loading ones for the side... pretty cool, lockable, crush proof, and completely air/water tight. no idea how much it'd run compared to the Givi's though

personally I'd stay away from any bags that need a rain cover... if you do any consistent long trips your going to get wet... and covers work in a pinch... but seem to always leak a little.

I got some Otrileb bags I'll sell ya for $150

great bags... 100% water proof... not a scratch on them

Do you know the capacity on those?

I don't ... but I do know they hold just a bit more than my cortech sport saddle bags did even when they were expanded. and I believe they were 17L per side... so I'd guess they're 18ish both sides? good quality

the only funky thing about them is the rear straps... each bag has a front mounting strap like normal to attach to the foot rests... but on these... the rear strap is a single strap that connects the two bags... so on the drz I weave it through my tail rack... works great.

they bottom and 1/3 of the front and back edge are hard so the bags keep their shape and are easy to pack/un pack.

the only reason I offer them is I got the wolfman bags with the racks for the DRZ... or I'd keep'm

if ya want... you pay the shipping and I'll send them up to ya to try out... if ya like'm... pay me... if not... send them back.

like Trip says, I'd check out ADVRider - specifically the Flea Market

You can probably score a Givi setup for a pretty good price and lots of the riders there take good care of their stuff.

It says universal mount, for 42 dollars plus 8% bing cash back, I say the large is worth a shot.

I never thought Sears would sell moto luggage.
