Other than the fact that they are owned by different companies, what exactly is the big difference? I don't really get it.

A few years back, everybody said, "Gotta get MySpace, gotta get MySpace."

Now, they say, "Gotta get Facebook, gotta get Facebook."

I have accounts on both and never bothered to go there. I have forums to go to in order to socialize with people that have similar interests. I have emails of people that I want to write to. So, what exactly do MySpace and Facebook do?

Just another avenue to talk to friends. Oh, and myspace is full of pedophiles.

FB is easier to keep up with friends. My space blows goat cock. Well FB does too but it is a lot better.

myspace you can design the lay out of your page where FB is a little more fuctional. Myspace has now copied facebook on the chat features and the status updates. I like FB much more and have pretty much ditched my myspace page

FB is a more controlled environment which gives a "cleaner" interface. When FB first started you could only join if you had a .edu email address and you had to be part of a "network," some group of people. I think because of the way it started FB became more of a way to keep in contact with people you know or to meet people your friends know while MySpace became more of a way for individuals to and groups to advertise themselves.

Myspace = the ghetto of the internet. Also people put tons of retarded graphics, videos, and music on their page, so if you're not at home on cable, good luck even opening that shit.

Facebook was much cooler when only college kids could be on it.

so when those kids graduate they're just supposed to get off it?

More tha half of Facebook these days is just job-seekers trying to market themselves.

No, you just needed a .edu address to register, after that you could change it to whatever you wanted.

facebook was a lot better when the users were controlled to some extent (college only days) and you knew people were who they said they were.

It's quickly becoming as sucky as myspace.

I have FB, I do not have myspace. That is the difference.

when I first started on it, you needed a specific colleges .edu address. It was only open to certain colleges. It was below 50 at the time I joined.

I was commenting on T rock's assertion that it was better with just college kids. Just pointing out that eventually they would not be college kids. ;)

I didnt join until the end of 2005, you just needed a .edu address then.

I know a 40yo that still uses their .edu email address. Probably not the demographic FB was looking for when it was developed. :lol

I didn't mind FB initially....but lately I'm DONE with it....all the fucking Farmville/Mafia Wars spam....Jesus Christ, no one but the faux crackheads addicted to that shit give a damn that a fresh pile of horse shit turned up on their "farm."

Fuck off with all that already. :td:

I can't join my college network. They send a confirmation email to the .edu address...I lost access to that bitch like a week after graduation. WTF.

Facebook is better. One thing it allows people to do is to share pics with friends and family. It also allows you to tag them in it so they kinda have access to it as well.

There is a small number of the people on my friends list that would be apart of any of the forums (might be over 20) that I go to. Its just another spot to "hang out".

Same here, and I'd actually like to find people I went to college with. Pretty annoying.

I'm curious but what prevents the teeny boppers from signing up on Facebook? They can always lie about their age.

Didn't know there was a restriction.

My son signed up for FB when he was 12. There was no age restriction iirc.

thus why when everyone else went to fb i simply stopped using social networking sites

Nothing is preventing them, but facebook isn't used for that shit nearly as much as myspace was. Facebook is more for personal friends.

Facebook is more likely to have real names on it; MySpace is more likely to have illegible text/background combinations and music that plays when you open somebody's page

This.

IMO - FB is to keep in touch with friends and family. MySpace is more for "meeting on-line" and the younger (kids) crowd.

I deleted MySpace and only go with FB.
