I went to see Transatlantic at the TLA in Philly on Saturday night.

The sound was OK (it might have been better had the sound man thought to put at least SOME bass in the fucking mains, but I digress), but what ultimately sent me packing was the fucking light guy (my feet and back were killing me too [general admission] but this was insult upon injury).

The lightman. It was me or him. If I didn't leave, I'd have likely sought him out, and beaten him fucking senseless. Actually, I think it would have been futile, as he probably lacked any fucking sense to begin with. See if you agree with me:

Since when did it become a fucking sport to blind the audience?

Listen, I came to see a fucking show. You know, like the fucking guys, on the fucking stage? Those guys. Aim the fucking lights at them, OK? Not into my fucking eyes. I'm trying to watch a fucking show here. It's them on stage I paid to fucking see. Cut that shit out.

If I was watching TV at home, and someone was constantly shining a fucking flashlight in my fucking face, I'd beat them fucking silly. Why should the light man periodically shine what amounts to fucking semi headlights directly into my face, while I'm trying to watch a fucking show? WTF? Really?

Are you that fucking retarded? If you're any smarter, do they give you a broom instead, and let you sweep the place?

Fucking nitwit.

OPEN LETTER TO THE LIGHTMAN AT THE TLA:

YOU SUCK. SEEK EMPLOYMENT AT SOMETHING ELSE YOU SUCK LESS AT.

Your posts have been extremely violent lately.

In a "I would have, could have, should have kicked this guy's ass but didn't" kind of way.

You guys dry up that way?

Nope. Stocked up just fine on relaxation materials...but you wouldn't get pissed if someone kept shining a fucking light in your eyes, after you paid good money to watch a show? Drove from another fucking state?

After almost an hour of it, I was livid, and although I'm not the violent type, for me, it was either leave, or go find the lighting prick, and smack the asshole's hand off the motherfucking fader.

I decided to go quietly instead, but I assure you, I won't be spending any more of my money at the TLA.

I don't know when BLINDING THE AUDIENCE became part of the "light show", but I think I prefer to go see bands where the light guys shine the lights on the performers.

Fuck that shit.

Fuck that shit.

I remember starting to see it in the late eighties. The set up was a bank of 2500W Mole lights, flashed with smoke and pyro. It was generally a once or twice effect, which was plenty, since any more than that would burn the retinas right out of your head.

On the scale of bright, the effect registered at pretty fucking. More than two minutes of that shit, I would have wanted to kill the lighting director too.

In my ex-roadie opinion, it's an unimaginative gimmick, and the guy is a hack.

pretty much right.

Either that or the band wants to see the audience they're playing for.

Or the lighting guy has no control over what the band actually wants. If the band wants to blind the audience then by all means watch out. And besides they're called moving lights for a reason they move around and can potentially blind the audience when pointed that way. But since move concert goers are ignorant to that fact it's more likely that I know the guy and have it in for all of the ppl on this forum.

So beware of me at the rally
