Maybe its a CBR thing, mine only lasted about a month before the new owner totaled it.

Not too bad. He just crashed all the plastic and engine covers. He was skinned up up said. Young, no gear, probably no helmet, I didn't have the guts to ask about the helmet. He was feeling shity about it. He said "You had this thing for like 7 years and it didn't have a scratch on it, I had it for a week and a half and fucked it up." I'm thinking, yep, that about sums it up.
Really puts the world in perspective doesnt it. Andf I bet you rode the piss out of it for those 7 years too.

:iagree: When I sold my '82 GpZ750 ( back in '89 ) , it was absolutely perfect. I had second thoughts about selling it to the guy who wanted to buy it.
He had gear and gave me a good line of shit about how he knew how to ride.
He dropped it on the second day and crashed it pretty bad on the fifth day. ( he was OK )

When we sold the gf's 250 the buyer dropped it within a week. Spent over half what he paid to get it fixed by the dealership.

Me neither on any of my old bikes. Maybe that's best.

I remember when I sold my 94 SecaII a day after I sold it someone crashed it into the woods. The bike was fine but it got sold again and that guy got ran over by a truck on it. Unfortunately he weighed more than the truck and the truck is now totaled.
I bought my CBR (which was in perfect shape before my buddy's buddy bought it) already wrecked so I can't complain if I sell it and it gets wrecked.

Even though you had sold it, I'm sure that sucks. I know I felt a little sick when the guy that bought my 250 repainted it - was still green but not factory Kawi green. Oh well, wasn't mine anymore.

I'm not selling my bike for a while, it'll probably go to one of my kids when they get old enough, but that makes it even worse. Now, if one of my old bikes dies one of my kids will be on it.

Dang man that sucks. Glad the dude is alright tho, hopefully only damaged his ego (for the better). Maybe he'll learn to wear gear and take it slow if he ever decides to get back on it.
When I sold my 250 I never checked on it but the guy ended up calling me and leaving me a voice mail cussing me out. He said the rear tire blew up and his wife was in the hospital and he was sending me the bills. I let it go and never heard from him again.

I feel bad for the bike, especially if you cared for it so well when you had it. :(

My old KLR ran better than any other KLR I've ridden. I even have friends who swapped out exhausts, installed jet kits, opened air boxes, etc., and my bone stock KLR would still outrun them. It was just one of the "good" ones. I know . . . it's just a KLR, but still . . . it was a good one.
I sold it to a gentleman who planned on taking 6 months or so and touring around the country. About a month into his trip, he blew the fuse for the radiator fan and let it over heat to the point of seizing the motor. Ugh. It had the best motor of any KLR I'd ever seen and the new owner goes and blows the thing up over a 29 cent fuse.

I think upshift or someone saw my SV at Southern Powersports and it had been laid down. It's sad to hear about your ex having issues.
