HOLY CRAP!
He didn't do anything... they were talking like he moved his right arm [as if to reach for weapon]. But, I didn't see his arm move other than when his body turned to look. I'm sure with his exhaust he didn't even hear the officer.
What gets me, why are all these officers running up to motorcyclist with their guns drawn in the first place? Like, a display of acceleration is the mark of someone that's going to shoot to kill?

Its part of the militarization of our local police force, which is encouraged and provided for through grants and funds provided for by the federal government. SWAT teams, MP5s, Riot shields, etc. etc. Our police are trained to deal with the American public as if they are all violent felons, and after a while police officers have trouble seeing the difference.

Well, what I personally do is participate in organizations that stand against this type of behavior from authority figures like the much hated ACLU, NORML, and so forth. I also congress with like minded individuals and participate in local protests, etc. (Like the recent Marijuana March in Dallas where we were overshadowed by 25,000 protesting Mexicans.) And BTW, its not because I'm some loser that sits in his basement smoking pot all day...its because the War on Drugs has led us to this point. We fight that back and we'll get our police forces back under control. Guaranteed.
But, I believe the best thing you can do, and especially you specifically as an intelligent and well-respected person....is just to spread the word. Talk to people you know, educate, make aware...things like that. I've changed a lot of people's minds by just talking to them, believe it or not....though it rarely happens on the internet.
And to that effect, educate yourselves, subscribe to sites that cover stories like this, civil rights infringements and so on. There's too much information available to us on the 'net, right at our fingertips, to not be educated.

You know, working with the different departments might not be a bad idea. I've already got an in with the track as a training facility - a few motor units use our facility as a training ground. I figure each year I take on a cause to push an agenda - last year was the lane splitting. I'm now the contact for Senator Carona on this agenda item. There has to be some way to broaden the topic without creating muddy-waters.
We could have more freedoms on motorcycles if we could change the public persona that every motorcyclist is a baby killer. Right?

edit: also, the tasing was provoked, maybe the kid was a track star, idk. not gonna argue that, thats another thread. this was unprovoked, i saw nothing threatening in the video, hard to hear, but i didnt think i even heard "put your hands up" before he shot. his hand never moved, he turned his body slowly, stopped, and then was shot. i hope the cop goes to jail.

Not me but I still don't see the big deal with it and still don't have a problem with it. The kid acted like a dumbazz and got treated like it.
Now this cop here...put him in the slammer...I have no problem with that either but shooting this guy on the bike is flat out wrong and the officer should pay...dearly.

Just a thought.
Say if a tazer was used, the outcome could have been the same. That 600lb HD could have fallen on him wrong and paralyzed him. The odds of that happened are far less than a bullet causing it and yes I agree that a tazer would have been a better choice, but the outcome MAY have been the same.

The big deal with it is the militaristic mentality that we're referring to, not just the action itself. The taser, while it could be a valuable tool against crime, also allows officers to act pretty much however they want because they basically have a button that shuts you down. Its so effective it might as well be implanted under your skin.
BTW, this cop is only facing a max of 11 years. You can get more time than that for...well....pretty much anything else. Now, guess how much time the biker would be facing if he would've shot a cop in the back?

Can't really argue with you here...even with the taser issue.
I still don't have an issue with what happened with the kid running around on the field BUT you do make a valid point about the taser here.

You should go to some police boards and read the stuff these guys talk about sometime.
They know damn good and well that a life prison sentence is a much harsher penalty than death. They know you will be raped repeatedly, forced to eat feces, probably stabbed a few times and so on....so instead of killing you they just send you off to be tortured for many, many years.
Cops would rarely resort to murder and hiding a body when they can manipulate the judicial system to enact a more enjoyable (for them) punishment.

That was insane....pull someone for speeding away from a stop sign...and get out of the car with your gun drawn? That is CRAZY. That CAN'T possibly be standard police procedure can it?
And then bust a cap at the kid because he turned around and looked at you?
Just....wow.

I certainly didn't see the arm move except when he turned. Even then, wouldn't there be plenty of time to see a gun before you "have" to shoot?

Make an example of this officer and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law, meaning give him a sentence equivalent to what a non police officer would get for shooting an unarmed person in the back.

Wow, this is seriously fucked up. I agree that this cop should be going to jail for a long time. However, I don't agree with all the cop bashing. Yes, there are some bad apples, just like everywhere, but I don't think all cops are bad. Do we like it when everyone assumes we're jackasses because we ride motorcycles? No, because we're not all jackasses, although some of us are. The worst are always on the news. There are plenty of good cops out there, this guy doesn't appear to be one of them. doesn't mean they're all bad, though.

Its no longer about Good cop vs. Bad cop. Its about militaristic type training and tactics that all recruits are taught to use when dealing with the general public. Even a "good" cop is forced to the same standards in use by his chosen department. After constant exposure to that enviornment day after day, you change.

OMG. How horrible, he didnt even make a semi threatening move. If you are turning your shoulder to look over it, doesnt your arm automatically follow? That cop didnt even have a REASON to draw, and as fast as he shot the victim, he had to have had it out before he even stopped the car.
I agree, he should face attempted murder charges, NOT assault.

I like how they are arguing in court about how he turned his body and didn't move his left hand. Do they not understand that the clutch must be pulled in? Who's to say that the bike was not still in gear.
I am confused why the second biker lost control other than he doesn't know how to operate a two wheeled vehicle. Very sad

Only thing I can think of is they were going to try to run and that guy panicked and crashed or he just pulled a wholeshot and didnt see where he was going.

Well at least he wont have to sell off everythig to cover his medical expenses once his insurance runs out. I dont know at what level his cord was damaged so its hard to say how much function he has lost.
I have seen drug dealers and other lowlifes get similar sentences up here and are back on the streets commting crimes so that can swing both ways.
The cop will prolly be in some sort of protective custody, which can be as bad since he will more or less be in solitary. they lethim out in witht he other animals he will be killed in a day.

Swing both ways? There is a very large difference between purposely and maliciously causing injury to someone that directly results in paralyzing vs. selling drugs to a willing buyer. There is no comparison there.
There is an even greater difference between the two when considering this specific case as police officers are supposed to be trustworthy NOT to kill or maim innocent people.
BTW, I did not know that some people who are paralyzed below the waist can still get hard. Interesting.

The prison system does nothing to protect decent America citizens who's crime did not result in injury or death from being raped, tortured and so forth....why should this fucking pig be any different. As someone who was trusted by the public to send people to the place he now faces it only seems to reason that he should face the same punishments they did.

First of all, of course they're back at it again, they're convicted felons with no other way to make a living.
BUT, my comments were directly related to the case at hand and how I think it is severely unjust that this pig is going to do less than a decade for paralyzing this dude.
If you want to quote a case where a "drug dealer" caused serious injury or death, was convicted, and did less than a dime I will side with you, HOWEVER, and its a big HOWEVER....the general public does not employee drug dealers to keep them and their families safe. The abuse of power adds a more serious tone to the charge IMO. Kind of like how the government views hate crimes.

I took a single pill a couple of hours before I met my date at a motel. I fucked her 8 times in 5 hours that day....but every time I came my erection went away until we started messing around again. And I'm talking about full-on nail hammering erections here.
Basically, the effect the pill had on me was to cause my body to react to her as if I were 15 again.

Again, I think that it depends on the dosage. I think "normal" is 5mg and he was taking 20 or 30mg I believe... something like that. I used to have a bunch but I never had the "balls" to take them. Remember me, no smokie, no drinkie, no druggie... I ended up throwing the bottle full away after they sat for a few years.

Read paragraphs 20-27 of the Civil Suit that goes over what happened after the shooting as the pigs refused to remove the motorcycle from on top of the now paralyzed man. It was still running and burned his leg so badly that it almost had to be amputated.

They also use implants as well.
An implant as in a permanently hard one? :skep: That would be fucking stupid.
Oh, and no surprise this happened in Ohio. Aside from Columbus, that place is just billy-bob ville.

This.
Where did we bash cops?
Maybe it wasn't necessarily "bashing," but it seemed like it as I was reading it the first time. It was at least saying that "all cops are the same," which is really what I was disagreeing with.

Its all fun and games untill you wind up with a priapism that doesnt resolve untill the blood is evacuated from the shaft of the penis. And you can call shenanigans on that too aside from the fact I have had to help the urologists do this procedure twice when othger methods didnt work ;)

Well at least he wont have to sell off everythig to cover his medical expenses once his insurance runs out. I dont know at what level his cord was damaged so its hard to say how much function he has lost.
No he will just have to sell everything because he can no longer enjoy it.

Hey now!
I think the cop should have to take care of this guy so he can be there to see everything this guy now has to go through for the rest of life. Or the same thing needs done to him.

I was thinking the same thing, but then I realized if I was the dude paralyzed I would probably want to slaughter the cop if I ever saw him again.. it probably wouldn't work out very well. Then again if the guy agreed then it could put things in perspective for the cop.. :idk:

Being forced to do volunteer work as part of his sentence, taking care of the paralyzed, perhaps at a VA hospital, would be a VERY nice touch, if the judge were at all sharp...and it would teach the lesson rather nicely, without subjecting the biker to any further contact with this POS cop.

Not even close... Cincinnati, Cleveland, Canton, Youngstown, and many many other cities are more thug life than redneck.
