Idaho isn't all that bad. My cousin lived there for several years. All he did was tattoo ppl and fish. That's a pretty good life.

Coeur d'alene is nice, but Boise? Not fucking cool.

Yeah, that's where he was. Had his own shop there. Now his shop is in VA. Much closer for tattoo work. I didn't get any ink in the 7 yrs he was out there.
wow...
Go 5 miles east though through Boise Natl Forest...whoooeee. Miles of switchbacks, paved and dirt.
Ride the Katoom everyday for a month and never ride the same stretch.
Days ride to the Oregon Coast
Days ride to Yellowstone
Calispell, Big Sky, the Bitterroots,
Coeur d'Alene, Nezperce, Snoqualmie.......
Man, I can think of a lot worse places to live...............
I'll help you move in and get settled....but we need one or two days to ride around and explore...............
If you don't ride motorcycles, hate water, the mountains, clean and clear air and winter and wintersports, Boise is a bad place to live.............
I think he must have done something right..........

Boise is like Denver, except less nightlife & entertainment....
You fly in, and everything looks brown....
Dry, barren most of the year........Hot days, cold nights.....
Sure, it's a gateway to lots of outdoor activities, but the city itself? Lame IMO....... It's just a cow town.

How do you figure better than Cali? The best riding roads in America are in San Diego County. No broken-up East Coast or Midwest roads can compare, not even the Gap.
And as for gun laws, sure it's probably a little harder to get a CCL here, but other than that it's not much different.
As for Philly, most of it is a dump IMO. Of course, you did export the worst of it to NJ (Camden).

The traffic in LA might very well be the nation's worst......But down in San Diego it's no worse than any other major city.
As for school systems.......Not sure what you mean. As long as you live in an upper-income suburb, the school system will almost always be good no matter what state it is.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. All the works that we anticipated in California fell through so I got assigned to the job in Boise. I can either take it or take a lay-off.
One thing for sure, the rent is dirt cheap.
I've found shops to service my scooter, my Beemer and my Katoom. But the closest Aprilia shop is in Portland, Oregon.
Local scuba diving consists of several lakes and streams. Not necessarily bad.
Don't know what the honey situation is like or even the twisties are like, though the Katoom should be able to get some offroad workout done.

Plenty of bums and other undesireables in downtown ATL...........The only difference is, there's a legitimate reason to go downtown in San Fran for entertainment. Not so for ATL.......Their downtown is a ghost town in comparison.

I worked in the eastern part of the Idaho. Most of the eastern boundary of the state is the Continental Divide. The Tetons and Yellowstone is like going to another world. And there's a reason one of the many mountain ranges there is called the Sawtooth's. Half of the state is National Forest or Wilderness.
I've never been to Boise, but look at Route 21 going north. You pretty much can't throw a rock without hitting some twisties. And to the south, you have desert, gambling, and whore houses. There's flat, straight roads, twisty roads, and tons of off-road. A motorcyclist's dream.
As for honey, most everyone is into outdoor recreation, both summer and winter, so there's not much fat. Unfortunately, I'm sure Boise is even more cowtown than Denver.

Not every 5 feet like SFO. Not to mention the problem with it you can't change; it's in communist CA.

I lived in Northern Utah for awhile and have been to Boise. Yeah, your nightlife is going to suck compared to what you've had, and there aren't going to be as many hot women as you've seen in SoCal, but if you like riding your motorcycles, and can get into hiking, skiing and snowmobiling, you'll have an absolute blast. No doubt in my mind about that.

I can definitely get back into hiking again if I don't have to drive five hours to the boondocks like in SoCal. But that white powder shit? That's for the birds.

So what are you doing? Same job, same pay? If it's same job/same pay, you'll probably be moving up significantly in the world just from the cost of living difference...
I think the motorcycling thing has been covered... but as far as women are concerned, there are hot chicks everywhere. I'd venture to guess that everyone posting down about the Boise talent probably ain't pulling super models... or even Sears catalog models anyway.

If you like riding a motorcycle, just wait till you throw on a snowsuit and hop on a sled. Besides, you'll want something to do in those winter months (other than staying in the house and bitching about winter) and snowmobiling is a great option. You may be surprised, but don't knock it till you've tried it.

Yes, there are. But, keep in mind he's currently in SoCal, where hot women run rampant. While there are hot women in Boise (I dated one for awhile), there are few that are going to match the appearance of the women in SoCal. He's going to see several women, but he's conditioned to seeing them much more often, so it will seem like there are no hot women in Boise, at least until he's been there for awhile.

Then you didn't see much of it. The only stinky part is near NYC, where the city dumps its trash.
South Jersey, and the Jersey Shore is beachie keen, and the pine barrons are pretty pristine woodlands.
The city is where the stink is. You need to get out more.

Seems like you are pretty positive and foreward thinking about it. You will save a shit ton of cash in CoL. I would say you could use the money for some new toys, but you have a bunch as it is. Plus the real estate is probably a ton cheaper, you could buy a pimpin house with land for a fraction of what you'd pay in SoCal.

How did you like LA? I've been thinking of getting into one of the "Big 5" agencies in LA after graduation. The thought of how much I will be paying in rent alone scares me though.
The AMA headquarters are here in Columbus, so that is my plan 2. Though I'd like to work with the roadracing series, but that headquarters is in Florida.
