View Full Version : I'm in trouble now...

The gf got a job offer in Philly. Yay! er... maybe.

It's in Newtown/Yardley actually, which is 48 minutes according to google maps. Obviously a lot longer with traffic up I95. Full time, full benefits, and real weekends! doing basically the same thing she's doing now. Supposed to start June 1. The pay is OK for what it is, but it would be some amount less than she's making now (at two part time jobs), and much less than I'm making. I'm okay with the pay thing, since I have enough to make everything work on my side of the bills, and to provide the basics. It sucks because she hasn't found anything in her degree field yet. And she's going to be driving a LOT and hates city traffic. So she's trading off a horrible schedule of two part time jobs for around two hours a day of driving in a completely alien city. Trading stress one and two for stress three, and I'm hoping for a more pleasant outcome *sigh*

Lately she's been kind of miserable:plzdie:
And I'm :wtf::sorry::didntdo:
I agree that her schedule now is pretty shitty, and her roommate is a 10 year old stuck in a 40 year old's body and I want to rescue his dog, and some of her "friends" are real bloodsuckers. She had a great time at the wedding and reception with her friends last night, but missed a shift somewhere and started slipping back into bitch mode.

:help:

You can't make anyone happy but yourself. Even if you love her person and she loves your person you have to be one and love that entity more than yourself. If that dont make both of you happy, no amount of compromise or external factors will save your relationship.

Thanks, you said it much better. You should be excited about this move, and she honestly should be excited to start the new chapter with you. We al lmake sacrifices for the people we love, and alot of the time it sucks, but you suck it up and make the best of it.

I would not live in Philly for any amount of money. Or NJ or California. Ever.

Just spoke to her. Am I evil for feeling better about this now that she's crying and fighting to go with me?

Didn't take $10M for me to move to Philly. Just a good job. Besides the traffic, it's not that bad. I'm thinking about a supermoto though... The Navy Yard is absolutely prime hooligan territory. Lots of curbs to jump and old buildings to zip through, and dirt lots to play in and empty parking lots.

Go with you where? I don't get it, she's the one with the new job right? And why would either of you have to move anyway, it's only 48 minutes away.

Anytime in that area is too much. California isn't bad, but Jersey is tragic..... I don't understand why anyone would willingly move there to live.

I'm already living in Philly. Just moved a month ago. She's four hours away. Actually, I came home for the weekend to take her to a friends wedding. She just got an offer near Philly.

ok, makes sense now! I too was wondering why she would be begging to go with you.

So what are your thoughts on this situation?

finish the sentence what happens next?

you move on. Why spend your life miserable with someone else that is miserable?

Of course, that is the simple answer. It's very easy to type it, much more difficult to do it.

i got the impression she was frustrated by her job and the fact she doesnt like driving in the city and how she's not utilizing her degree...

If somebody you're with is unhappy you should buy them flowers and make them happy.

Buy her some damn flowers PR.

Can't live with em, can't leave em tied up in the basement. I mean really. Think about the mess. Then you'd have to get another girl to clear that up and you'd have all the same problems.

Um, I live on a road that's half paved, half unpaved, and my one acre property backs up to a preserve.

I will always have a place to ride dirt.

I'm centrally located between Philly, the shore, and NYC, and about an hour from Newark Liberty airport.

In the middle of the woods, near the shore, and yet near two major metropolitan areas, and an international airport.

What's the downside?

For me: No medical herb yet, too much humidity, and winter...YMMV.

 She's already spoiled. I've given her fresh flowers damn near every week we've been dating.

Good news, she was up yesterday and left again this morning. I thought she was coming, but didn't really know when She calls while I'm still at work and says "I'm on my way. Psyche, I'm in Philly." Surprise! She was on her best behavior though. If I can get her to sleep and relax, this could work. She's happy and proud that she made it all the way here and home again without getting lost :rockwoot:

I didn't hear of any performance awards on this last trip  And I haven't had any dealings with the police...

And when you BRAND new car that is parallel parked on a straight street gets slammed into by an obvious drunk driver (who reeks like booze) and the cop lets him walk home with no ticket...then tells me the car looks fine even though the rear struts are broken and the ass of the car is on the ground. Yeah. I'm glad I dont' deal with the Philly PD anymore.
