I have to agree with Denver. That airport just has a weird vibe to it.

Isn't that because they built it on an indian burial ground or something?

My personal weirdest/scariest would be St. Thomas, USVI and Detroit.
St. Thomas is a very short runway that looks like you're going to run into a soccer field at one end.
Detroit... well... it was just scary. I had a flight canceled and ended up sitting through a layover there, and even the somewhat cute chick at the terminal snack bar was surly. :wtf:
I have to say, that's the only airport where I've ever worried that I could actually get my ass kicked for no good reason.

Any airport can be a freaky place depending on the time of day. I've found that out the hard way many times.

St Thomas was bad-Hamilton Island in Australia was worse. You only get one shot to land or take off there.
Scariest was Butte, Montana at night. Since it is on a plateau, the city lights are below you when you hit the ground. I about shit myself on that landing.

Scariest airport I've landed in / taken off from is probably San Jose, Costa Rica. It's situated in a "bowl", with high mountains surrounding it. You basically drop down into it, seemingly close to the mountain tops. When you take off it's a sharp incline spiral.

Sun Valley Idaho is the same way

I'm surprised the habitrail hamster tunnels at Heathrow didn't make the "weird" list.

Scariest takeoff-landing has got to be the Azores. The runway literally ends over a cliff, and there are heinous cross-winds all the way in. It made me want to go to church.

Scariest airport: Bata, Equitorial Guinea. They kept our luggage for ransom for 6 days.

They try to get you to take a picture of you at the airport, then take your camera because it's against the "law" to take pics of "government buildings".

The plane we flew in on did not have the seats bolted to the floor.

They drew their guns because I had camo shorts in my luggage...

Good times.

For the US, I think San Diego has a "unique" location. First, it is located in downtown San Diego. Second MCRD San Diego is located there

Teluride CO used to be pretty interesting until they changed the runway last year. The runway used to have a 50 ft elevation difference from one end to the other with a big dip in the middle.

Those are some cool airports.

I've only flown out of Dulles (when I was 12) and Atlanta to O'Hare. I liked the take off and landing but wish it was more thrilling. I heard John Wayne airport in South LA has a steep take off and landing. I'm looking forward to going there.

Try lading and taking off from an aircraft carrier. That shit is bad ass. I have 1 take off and 1 arrested landing.

You guys got any warnings for the Orlando (MCO) airport? I'm going to Florida on Sunday for a week for work...I HATE airports. They all freak me out... especially security. 'walk thru the scanner. go back. walk thru again. okay go back...okay must use wand stolen from Star Wars to scan you for weapons...' ...serious?!

Orlando is just a basic normal airport.

Ok, you win! :rockwoot:

Denver is definately weird. Something not quite right about that place.

I was just in Detroit in March. It was my 4th trip to that airport. I've actually never had a bad experience there. Maybe my timing was good! I always find myself flying into concource B and leaving out of concourse A so I always have to go thru that freaky tunnel. I could do without that...

My husband took video of them flying into one of the smaller airports in BC. It was cool ( from the cockpit shows great footage). Fly through the mountains and it looks like you are descending straight into a mountain when all of a sudden there's the airport and runway. I sure wouldn't want to do it daily.

Don't drink the coffee there. I swear it's brown tinted sewage water flitered through Roseanne Barr's thong.

Yes, Orlando is normal. But on the flight down the kid next to me dumped his pop in my lap. That was entertaining.

The world would have been 1 less kid if that would have been me. That or his parents would have had a black eye.

coool (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/picturegalleries/7808977/The-worlds-strangest-weirdest-and-scariest-airports.html?image=12)

am i the only one that saw this and thought "id love to have a ramp there, get on a unrestricted busa wearing a parachute, and hold it full throttle for 8000feet, hit the ramp at like over 200mph, and hit the chutes before u start to come back down?"

if it were a movie scene, there would be no parachute, and it would be a chase scene, trying to get away, and there would be a boat in the ocean waiting (no way out) but then you hit the ramp, launching you onto the skids of a helo or small airplane,(with :boobs: as a pilot) and the bike crashes into the boat, blowing it up :rockwoot:

I wouldn't want to be wearing the chute (read: yanked off the bike)
