Lol Have fun and remember if its that hot outside then the track is hotter and your tires will get slick with that much heat. We dont want you wrecking your bike. Have fun suit up and be safe.

Expected heat index of 105. :panic:
We had that at CMP last weekend. The temperature on my XT lap timer read 118 degrees in the 3pm session.
I think I'm still dehydrated.
Remind everyone to keep their head on out there and remind them the track loses traction in high heat! That saturday we had 3 ambulance rides and one life flight. :(
I've done track days in temps of 110+ in the shade a bunch of times :)
Drink water, stay in the shade, use any air conditioning liberally. If you've got it, use a mister kit (works great in the desert, not sure how well it would work in the humid south). I wear an underarmor shirt under my leathers and soak it in my cooler in between sessions. Makes a big difference. Drinking very cold water makes a big difference as well. Stock up on ice!!!
Luck...I'm supposed to be at the track tomorrow too (Road Atlanta!!!) but my tow vehicle blew up last night :(
I got a really big fan that blows like a hurricane for days like that

RA is one of my favorite tracks, what brings you way out this way?

We've ridden in hotter, think of it as "conditioning training" for everyone. ;)

I just came from where it was 120 in the shade (Kuwait), so 105 actually doesn't seem that bad now.
I think everyone else already covered it. If you're not out riding, you should be inside the clubhouse cooling off, drinking water (NOT soda), and eating at least some snacks (Gatorade isn't the best substitute for electrolyte replenishment, but it will do in a pinch). Skipping breakfast should not be an option - people who do would be just setting themselves up for failure.
Misters help, big fans for the shaded areas if they are available for when people are in the pits. Sean's idea of soaking his underarmor in cold water to wear during sessions is perfect. Even if it's just a regular cotton t-shirt is fine, it helps keep the core temperature down.
That being said, proper hydration is the most important aspect of it. And people often don't realize how physically intensive riding is. Stress to them that if they start to feel "off" in any way, to bring it in and take a break. Heat injuries are insidious, they sneak up on you and most people don't realize they're getting to that point until they are passing out.
*steps off soap box*
This is why I don't do track days in TX in the summer. It's the opposite of fun.

I ride after dark on hot days. Yesterday was 86 degrees, and I hid out in the house with the curtains closed all day. :lol

That was a blast! Well, let me rewind and say - I supervised, I didn't ride. Though I did take pictures in the afternoon. That was miserable standing trackside watching the bikes go around. LOTS of water to go around.

Tidbit to add: I hear Pedialyte is the best hydration there is. Gookinaid or other electrolyte replenishment powders from places like bike shops are good too. Start hydrating the day before, not the morning of.

Same here, its getting to the point where its too hot to ride when the sun is out. But i also realize that I have awful night vision...Luckily its been in the 90's so far but heck even that is hot...105 this weekend so I will try to squeeze in a ride but any hotter I am waiting until the fall.
Time to park the bike until the fall. I rather ride with heated gear. I'm all about adjustable comfort settings.
BTW 86 degrees is not hot!

86 to me is almost unbearable. 100 would have me wanting to shoot myself in the face. Super serious. The only way I can stand anything around 86-90 is to ride in a t-shirt a long the coast line.

Don't ever, ever go to Kuwait or Iraq then. You'd probably burst into flames at 120+. I was used to it, and I still felt like I'd catch fire at any given moment.

I have no intentions so not to worry, but I got a feeling where I go in the afterlife will be on the warm side though so I should prepare

No AC, that shiz is heavy and saps power!
Desert heat isn't so bad with the dryness, but in the south 85 is hot with all the humidity. The sun in the desert is just brutal in the summer...

And, windows only mean glass gets broken all over the place when your helmeted head hits the window. So, if you even have windows - they are down.
I'll take 105 here over 85 there anytime. It might be hot, but only in the sun.
Nuun Tablets http://www.nuun.com/index.php are my answer to hydration. They are easier to pack than any liquid.

Those too. Very handy on the go.
They have tablets that are supposedly safe for camelbaks, but being as I had mold in my camelbak after using them, I am a little wary.

Gah...just threw up a bit in my mouth thinking about the time I took a big belt from my hiking camelback...before realizing it was moldy. It was a long LONG walk back to the trailhead with only dodgy water on hand to drink.
Lesson learned...preparation..preparation...preparation. :lmao:

That is such a big fat lie! I like the dryness but seriously triple digits with no humidity just sucks ass. I am another one of those burst into flames people. I rather be in 85 and humidity.

I dunno... I've been in 110+ with little humidity and it wasn't bad... once you get out of the sun into the shade you're all right. a good 10-20* cooler.
in the Humidity the only break is into A/C... and having been in the Persian Gulf in May-Oct... and experiencing 120* temps with Humidity like we have here in MS... even A/C can only do so much before you're rushing into a 85* tent to feel refreshed!
the one NICE thing IMO about humidity... is that when you stop, you instantly sweat and once you start riding again, you get a nice bit of A/C for 10-20 mins... then it's right back to being in the sauna
dry heat is definitely better than humid heat
