So much crap going on, it wont even let me download the games I bought.

I hope the final ST:O game was better then the horrid beta I was in.
Too bad Steam sucks so hard I can't even download anything.
I have never had a problem with it. I actually love the service they give.

Same here. I pretty much get all my games through them now.
Their game library makes it easy to manage things, there's no media to keep track of for reinstalling, and in many cases they offer special editions and promotional add-ons for the games they sell.

My roommate has been playing for a few weeks now and is enjoying it.
Apparently they've smoothed out a lot of the beta & early post-launch issues.
I started the newbie level stuff this morning and it's pretty fun.
Flying the ships is going to take some getting used to though.
Ya, like I said, it was only the beta. But it turned me off the game completely.
Next game I have a beta invite for is Final Fantasy XIV. That should be fun, it looks to be very, very good.

2 million people playing and downloading all the games they are buying right now. Settle down.

Yet, oddly enough, I just started downloading Mass Effect 2, and its working fine, though download rates are a little bit slow, but nothing to serious.
Well gee, I must be an idiot because their software keeps saying "servers too busy". Lighten up FFS.

No, PC. I've got no interest in playing an mmo with a controller. But the PS3 phase of the beat is only after the PC beta 1 and 2 are done, and noone waiting for ps3 beta has gotten an invite yet. So give it a while if thats what your waiting for.

I have no plans to use a controller. Just watching them move through the macros in the alpha/beta vids was painful. I'm going to hook up my usb kb/mouse combo to the PS3. My lappy is too weak to handle the game, at least according to the benchmark.

No shit? We should try to get on the same server for XIV. I got a group of people from XI that are all meeting up on there. They're a pretty fun group of people. Have you played XI by chance?
I'm undecided if I'm picking up SC2. I have yet to run into any friends of mine that are picking it up.

I played XI from its launch to WoW's. I've played WoW off an on since, but im truly sick of it now.

I played XI since launch as well. Started on Alexander server then jumped to Remora. My name was Sutien before I sold him, and my first job was loldrg. I quit about 2 years ago now. I'm hoping XIV is like XI launch.. that was fun as hell.
I played WoW for like 2 weeks and hated it. After I quit XI I took up LoTRO for a couple months and quit when I got to "end game".. insanely hard instances that were beefed up because people were taking advantage of loopholes.. load of shit.

You know, way off topic, but I've always hated that.
MMOs always seem to get scaled up to maintain their challenge for the l33t p0w3rgamerz, thus making them annoyingly hard for the casual gamer to succeed at (or even access) endgame content.

It's already been derailed, so might as well add to it. I like a challenge.. something to make me think, but they're doing it wrong. You can't just increase mob power tenfold and expect things to work out. I can go on night & day about the ups and downs of FFXI, but LoTRO can be summed up in just one word.. ridiculous.

There was an article written a while back about games (this one focuses on WoW) teaching the wrong lesson.
Worth a read if only because I'm betting you'll agree with a lot of the points if you've played many MMO's.

I tried LotRO and absolutely hated it.
The problem with XI is that the community never grew, and it was impossible to solo level. So iif you wanted to start playing, or get back in to it, you were stuck at the dunes for weeks spending hours looking for party's, and getting lots of <Japanese Onry> tells. Unless you played from launch, its extremely hard to get into.

Many things I can agree with in that article, and I could write something very similar about FFXI. One line in particular that went something like this "it is never the fault of the player for any exploits, it is always the company's fault" is something SE needs to learn as well.. I was part of the group in FFXI that duped items in salvage because of the 1-5% drop rates.. learned my character was likely banned along with ~750 of the longer players. At this point I already sold my character, but you don't discipline long time dedicated players for your fucking problem.

In the earlier years of the game's life JP ONRY was inevitable. The later years, though, NA players took over after most of the JP left. It's funny though.. because a lot of the JP people left because NA players started playing. It is damn near impossible to join in the game at this point in time as a noob. There are simply way too many things to get caught up on.

I know, i tried going back. My acct got hacked sometime after I quit. I had 75whm/75/blm/75rdm that I had put countless hours in. Then when i tried to go back and start over, it was impossible. Got to lvl 12 and quit cuz of lack of parties.

All mages, huh? I couldn't do that. 75drg/75war/75drk/75blm for me. All pimped out.. was in the running for a relic when I left, but got too fed up with ls bs. I quit, sold my chara with all its belongings & gil, and then bought the bike. I'd say it's a damn good investment.
Let me guess.. you called SE customer support sometime when hacking wasn't that common and they wouldn't give your chara back? My friend must have gotten hacked at least 5 times because he's too lazy make sure all the keyloggers were gone and had np getting his acct back. After he used his one time "give me all my shit back" with the chara he was sol, though. Got it back stripped.

No, it wasnt quite SE's fault. Acct got hacked, I noticed like 3 years later when I tried to play. By that time, my character was deleted, and they had no logs that far back.

You can try the benchmark program on the official site. It gives options for high and low settings. I scored a little under 5000k on high settings, which is way over what you need for 60fps.
I ordered the CE too. The security token and starting 7 days before everyone else was enough to sway me. The further you can get ahead of everyone in an mmo, the better.

Here's all the games I bought
Aliens Vs Predator classic
ARMA 1 & 2
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood
Cryostasis
Dirt 2
GTA IV: Episodes
GRID
Kane & Lynch
Killing Floor
Mass Effect 1 & 2
Max Payne 1 & 2
RE 5
Serious Sam HD 1 & 2
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith edition. Funny how it only shows up as force unleashed when you buy.
Here's a game you can't get any more that I just now heard of. Its called Codename Gordon. Its HL2 but in 2D. Haven't played it yet but it looks fun. It's not in the Steam store but it is stored in steam and you can download it still.
Open a web browser, be it IE or firefox. In the address bar, type: steam://install92 I'm running FF 3.5.10 and when I hit enter, a launch application window pops up and you choose STEAM, then click OK. Go to your Library and it should be downloading.
IE will pop up a window asking if you want to "allow" the action.
