Sure, registration is at 7:30 (25.00 or 20.00 if you decide to become a member) and then a quick new shooters orientation. We'll breakdown into three groups and go one of three "bays". Each bay has two scenarios. After you've done both the group will go to the next bay and after all three are done we'll pick up the spent casings while the times are scored.

You'll need a .38 or larger (no magnums) at least two magazines but the more the better. A holster (I have a couple of spare universal fabric ones) a magazine pouch for your spares (I have an extra one of those). If your gun is a double/single action, you'll have to start with your safety on. The start procedure is go to the starting point and the safety officer will tell you to load and make ready. At that point you'll unholster, insert a magazine and chamber a round. If your gun is now in single action mode you'll engage the safety and put back in the holster; otherwise just holster it. They'll ask you to nod if ready and when the timer rings unholster and shoot. When you're finished with the stage you'll be ask to show clear. At this point drop the magazine, rack the slide to eject the round and hold the slide back so they can see your chamber is empty after they say "I see clear" let the slide go, aim at the back berm and press the trigger.

Always keep your weapon pointed down range. There will be a couple of stages where you move from point to point to engage different targets. Remember to keep the gun pointed at the back berm when you are moving.

Spectating is a possible.. I can't shoot right now though. Once I get reconditioned, I'd like to look into some smallish events though :)

Time for a sick day :rockwoot: If you can't, they have this event every 2nd weekend so maybe next month.

That's a really good way of getting started. This event and steel challenge are a lot of fun and pretty easy going.

If you decide to go do you have eye and ear protection? I have spares if you don't.

"Work" is a subjective term. I'll be on my way to the BMW MOA Rally in Oregon.

Really, I'd love to come - keep reminding us. I need to stick to spectator for now, would love to get more involved though. Very cool idea.

Ohh... this Saturday isn't a go for me (I JUST picked my kiddos up this evening, plan on taking them to the park and/or pool assuming the weather is relatively sunny as predicted).

But I would LOVE to participate in that someday. This is right up my alley, and I really could use the practice. I have done something similar in training (reflexive fire training in Kuwait), but it was with an M4, not a pistol.

Will do. It must be totally gratifying when work isn't "work".

Hopefully it stays dry for you Archren. My kids are with their mom this month and its tough already. I can't imagine being gone for a year. Thank You for your service.

Yep, mickey mouse ears to go over earplugs, and shooting glasses galore :)
