Awesome site, great link Dave!
Just another literbike, but will it perform?! Can a screamer make it in WSBK? Other than Haslam and last years Rea Checa Honda bit none has for like an eternity...

Tbh I'm not sure it is a screamer, its revs have the rough properties id associate with something like the rsv4. Hell we're still early too, could have been just a suspension testbed. Only october will tell.
Ftr, so far kawi claims 200-190 hp and at least 30 lbs lost from the gen3

I wasn't saying anything about the merit of riding it... I was just commenting on how Kawi will take a gorgeous idea and fuck it up with little additions.
last good looking bike from Kawi was the ZX6R 636... IMO
the DRZ is fucking ugly as sin... but it's an off road bike... not meant to be sleek and sexy like a sport bike.

While I like the gen 2 636, I love next gen that Sixx has. If I had 5 grand, that is the bike that I would drop it on.

My 'sniff' 2005 636, was special. She is gone but not forgotten. The 26K I put on her was hard and fast but she was infallible and I have had 10 middleweights from each brand to compare it to.
This ten should be special if the patents all work as advertised. Maybe the first supersport liter bike I will own.

Hell I'd rather see em change there styles up more often than roll with the same shit year in and year out like Suzuki and Honda.

My buddy has a 2006 636. I do believe the 07/08 has a much nicer shape. The nose, the tank, the tail.... just love the shape. And I like the small headlights better. And the ergos fit me better than any current ss...
But I completely know what you mean. I used to love the 600RR back in gen 1, and into gen 2. Gen 3 was too naked for my tastes, and by gen 4.... I just want something new! The R6 is getting close. Hopefully the R6 will be turned over by the '12 model.

I think anything after 04-05 went downhill and continues that trend, but it's my opinion. They seem to have got heavier, the ass even wider, and very hard on the lines instead of smooth and flowing.
And this 2011 looks even worse.... WTF is the Kawi green?

How do you figure anything after 05 is heavier? The 2008 and higher is lighter than the 2005...and much more refined, not to mention much more power.
I'll agree with Porkchop..the 2008 ZX6r and 2006/2007 ZX10r were the best designs from 2004 up.

I read some idiots comments yesterday on the hellforleather website. They we're ignorantly bashing the bike but I have a feeling when a tester comes out it will have some serious challenge for the BMW and Aprilia, not the the race teams have enough talent to make it show.
Supposed to be a true screamer with good throttle/tire connection. A total dream if they can pull it off...
Interesting stuff on the challenge-kawasaki site, they have a twitterish feed going on noting changes and upgrades for the new bike. Yesterday they mentioned a doohan style thumb brake. I'm assuming this is only for the race bike and the marketing guys slapped it in there cause it sounds cool. Wonder though if sbk homogolation rules would require it on the production bike after the aprilia rule changes? Anyone know? Potential awesome

Maybe so...They had no idea of anything beyond dyno graphs. 'More peak please'
The whole point is the reduction of the peaks and valleys so that there is a consistent and smooth application of power, duh...If you have to spin it higher to get there so be it. Yamaha just caved and threw in a cross plane crank and variable intakes to solve the riddle even at a cost of peak numbers, Kawi thinks a conventional crank spinning faster will do the same while bettering the peak numbers higher in the rpm band...
kawi officially unveiled the racebike today at the nurburgring, looks good in green!

Just now bothered to look up the specs based on DRY weight:
2005 - 374.9
2008 - 395
This would indicate that at least part of your statement above is incorrect. Didn't bother to look up power.
I still don't like the 2011. It looks like the ass end is just hanging out there like some stretched poser bike.

LCDs do some things rather well. making fast changes in sunlight isin't one of them. folks shouldn't judge an LED bar tach based on lcd failings.

I dont care what Yamaha builds next. To me I love the new Kwak cause it is the new tech speed king, but at the same time I am an old guy and the no tech Suz 750 makes me wanna see how fast I, the rider and wrist alone, can make it go.
600s? I have had too many. They are just too middle of the road for me.

Z1000S looks TITS...
Gixxer 6/750 has regressed in styling. What a fugly front end from the front, not bad from the side. Chassis looks a ton shorter than the previous gen.
GSR750 on the otherhand looks awesome...
MV Augusta F3 supersport????
Why?
One need look no further than the current r1 and the arrogance behind it.

Yea i can understand that. For being so hyped, and the stock being down on power. But shit, it won a WSBK championship in its first year (who knows how much the rider had to play in that though), and it won an AMA championship in its second year. :idk:

Didnt know that. Nothing that a race ecu cant fix right?
The thing that pisses me off about the new R1 is the price tag. Jesus H Christ. Almost 13.5 before T/T/T, and 14.5 with the special edition. That opens a whole new ballpark of bikes.

Race ecu has no provision for a speedo, euro didn't have it but to swap to that you need a matched set of ecu, wiring harness, ign switch, and key.

Looked like it to me too.
I agree the tach is bad ass and the slipper clutch seems to work pretty damn well too. If I tried some of those downshifts on my bike I'd be on my ass before I knew what happened.

Shit load of lean angle for the outlap. Must have had his tires warm and been reasonably skilled as a rider eh?
