The road to Indy has begun - Brandon Altmeyer [age 13] is officially signed up for the 2010 Red Bull Indianapolis GP Moriwaki MD250 Cup race.

Brandon is currently an expert racer with the CMRA and WERA. This will be his first race at "the big show." He needs all of our help to get there. So, we're going a drawing on August 28th for a Trackday. You can enter that drawing by donating to the race fund through my paypal - moira@elitetrackdays.com

Is there a set amount for the donation? Can you do a flyer or quick write up with some details and pretty pictures? I will pass the word around to generate some support if you do.. like win a track day where? or with what organization?

Update from Indy.

Today was the second race. Yesterday he finished 14th. Today 13th.

Bad day at Indy: News direct from the track. Brandon witnessed another kid get hit during warm up laps: Points leader Peter Lenz; killed on the track, instantly. Brandon stalled at start, then worked his way up to 13th or so. It's gonna be a long drive home. Prayers to all.

He crashed in the warmup lap and another rider hit him.

They continued the race as they didn't know his status. Peter was pronounced at arrival. It happened right in front of Brandon, all the boys were pretty shaken [understandably].

I remember hearing something about him (peter), was he on a TV show or something. Sad to hear.

Been reading up on him today, really sad as he seemed very talented...a big loss to the sport for sure.

Wow. How horrible. Peter had some bad crashes the last couple of years.
I remember my son racing against them when they were all little kids on pocketbikes.

Godspeed, Peter.
