I can feel the sperm in my balls dying off with all these radio waves.

I dont see why folks are getting their panties all in a bunch, until you purchase it , the pants belong to walmart, meaning that they are tagging something they own, then when you buy it, you have the option to remove the tag because it is your property

I wouldn't worry about it too much because I don't buy clothes at Walmart

A bunch of scared people that dont understand RFID. As long as the tags are removable I dont see the problem and the stuff about Wal-Mart reading your drivers license or passport or whatever is BS.

A bunch of scared people that dont understand RFID. No doubt. I wonder if the author of that article knows his credit card probably has an RFID chip in it and point-of-sale equipment has been able to read it for years.

I think the point of concern here lies with the fact that with all of the RFID chips in your new documents, and those RFID readers in use in the stores, in the hands of any unscrupulous people, they may be used to access documents on your person.

There is also concern that chips hidden in items such as TV boxes would literally transmit "I JUST BOUGHT THE MAC DADDY BIG SCREEN!" to anyone cruising the hood with a scanner.

They have been using radio tags on clothes in walmart up here for years now. Odd.

Sales clerk has to remove it, or an alarm sounds when you pass through the door.

Not the same thing...this is RFID, not just an induction coil alarm (what you're talking about). The induction coil in an RFID is active, not passive, and contains data.

To be fair, how often do you carry your passport to Wal-Mart? Or any other sensitive documents with RFID chips in them? I can think of two times, but both were in Beijing. In the US... not so much.

Hell, I'd be surprised if more than 15% of Wal-Mart shoppers had a passport to worry about.

Well, you've always got options if you're worried about your credit cards, like the wallet I have:

And the same thing's available for your passport:

Haven't RFID's been in use for years now?

I remember the "Big-brother" fear mongerers screaming about this when I was in grade school.

Aren't those little plastic bars stuck on most big-box-store inventory RFID devices?

No, they are resonant coil (or in this case, reed) passive systems.
