can't always be messing with the bikes. here's my Jeep with her new rims and tires. no lift because it remains a daily driver. 100 mile commute each day 50 each way.

Nice Jeep :)
How is the mileage treating you with that much of a commute?

I'm gonna say he's getting around 16... rough guess.

If it is a manual I would say 14 and automatic I'd drop it to 12. I'm guessing it is the 4.0 straight six. That has to be one of the least efficient engines still being made after 2000.
Crap I hope he gets better than 12-14! My 8 year old V8 Ford gets 13 city, up to 16 highway (if i'm not driving).. automatic trans.

3.8 V6 6 spd manual and gets 20-21 MPG depending on how much stop and go I end up in.

As I said the old 4.0 liter straight 6 was a horrible gas hog. A buddy of mine has one in his manual that has been mildly lifted and is on 33" tires. He gets 10-12mpg in mixed city/highway driving.

I didn't realize that was the new body style/engine/transmission. That is much more manageable.

Impressive. I never managed to get one to do that well, though I was always driving brand new ones, and I have a bit of a lead foot trying to get the damn thing to go!
Still think they should drop the 3.0L Diesel they had in the GC in there... That would be a decent set up.

The 4.0 inline 6 got horrible mileage (used to have a Cherokee Sport with one) but damn would that thing take off like all getout

the new ones have better HP and mileage figures. I can cruise 80 MPH down a freeway easily. They don't have the grunt of the straight 6 4.0 though. given what I usualyy use it for that is ok. It has been covered in mud a time or two though. :rockwoot:

Nice looking rig. And the average person isn't buying a jeep as a commuter, they buy them for a toy :dribble:

My 4.0 inline six in my former Cherokee got about 16 1/2 in town and 20 on the road.
My 3.7 V-6 in my current Liberty gets a little better but not by much. My Liberty does weigh a bit more than my Cherokee did and has a better ride though.

yeah it started out that way, until the mileage started racking up on my truck. now it does most of the commute duty.
