Every just want to just not do anything on your birthday? No attention, no presents, no calls, no special treatment? Just let the day be "YOUR" day.

Every year since I was 14. Do I succeed? Never. This year I wanted to go hide in Mississippi with my brother, but I doubt I could even avoid it there.

I fucking hate birthdays. I also hate Christmas and anniversaries. I hate Christmas more than anniversaries, but less than birthdays. I really fucking hate birthdays.

You had me at 14. :lol

I guess cause I'd like to be on a trip or something. I never get to actually do something on my birthday.

Sheesh, this board sure has some sour people on it! What's the big deal about a birthday? Why not make it an excuse for doing something you'll remember?

A couple years ago I had the perfect birthday trifecta: whitewater rafting one day, rock climbing the next, track day the next. Three days with family and friends that I'll never forget. What's so bad about that?

Got one coming up myself... I doubt my girlfriend is going to let me get away with doing nothing special.

I mean, really... 36 isn't even a milestone.

I hate birthdays. I don't like being the center of attention.

This from a guy who used to perform on stage for a living...

I used to hate my birthday and never celebrated it.

But then I realized it was much easier to embrace it, and the fact that people want to celebrate it, than spend my time being pissy about hating it and making a big to do about not celebrating it.

You waste more energy in trying NOT to celebrate it than you ever would celebrating it.

So just enjoy it and thank people that offer you well wishes.

I'm not in to really celebrating them...as someone else said...I don't like being the center of attention either but I don't hate them. They just seem to come up faster the older I get. I usually do like to treat myself to something fun though...still a kid at heart and since the wife and I have no kids we like to spoil ourselves. :rockwoot:

I try every year for my own and tell everybody else to attempt.

Best present you can give yourself.

I hate all the bullshit. I tell the woman and my family the only present I want is to be left alone.

Thats the reason I also like how German way to celebrate fathers day. The family leaves him the hell alone and its a day to go get drunk with your buddies. No family BS.

:lol

I was at my previous job a couple of years ago and people brought a cake and stuff, and they wanted to take a picture. I remember I was all "no, no, really..." trying not to make a big deal out of it and then my boss, who was an awesome guy that I considered my friend, started mocking me and saying "no, don't do it, who would want to preserve this moment with an image anyways" and just kind of made me think that in reality it was pretty bad to try to be all negative about it... they were my friends (some of them) and they just wanted to celebrate. Why not? :)

Nothing says "I don't want attention" like starting a thread about not wanting attention.

The only thing more transparent would be resurrecting the thread on the day you "don't want attention."

Being the center of attention can be a blast. Just loosen up and have fun. Keep the next saturday completely open for yourself and have a full stock of alcohol, good friends, hookers, drugs, and x-box.

I'm living with my parents this summer. Fucking horrible, other than the free rent and hot meals when I get home from work.
