Anyone work in the kind of place where people bring in treats on a semi-regular basis?
I hardly ever bake at my own apartment (too small of a kitchen, and too hot in the summer).....but now that I'm housesitting at my parent's I'm a baking machine.
I can't stop myself.
Yesterday it was Lemon Squares.
Today it was Giada's Lemon Ricotta Cookies
Everyone here thinks I'm nesting.
Monday I will attempt to make a peach-raspberry pie!

We have vendors that bring in cookies/bagels/donuts/lunch on occasion, but we don't really have any bakers that work here.
occassionally, system engineering does it on a weekly basis though

If it's your birthday you're supposed to bring in treats for everyone.
Someone brought in a McEwan's cheesecake last week.
It's hard to be good about what you eat when there are treats around all the time. :lmao:

Who made up that stupid ass rule? People are suppose to bring you treats and cake on your birthday. I am not buying/making people food on my own birthday.

My assistant has the worst diet ever.
She constantly has treats, snacks, junk food, etc. at her desk or in the kitchen area.
She is also a phenomenal cook and everytime she brings in a new dish to share, she expects us all to partake.

It's been like this at a few places I work.
I think it makes more sense.
If you left it up to others, you might not get treats, or the same person would always be making it for everyone.
This way, you bring in your own, but then you get to partake in everyone else's too.

I sit beside someone like that.
On an hourly basis I hear the crack of a coke can, the opening of chip bags, cookie bags, etc.

Yeah, not getting any wouldn't be an issue for me, me bringing in stuff for everyone would be. Fuck that shit, it's stupid.

We have "food days" here about once a month....I only snack on stuff brought in by the only female co-worker in our group. She is a good cook and makes tasty treats.
The majority of stuff people bring in is just rubbish...little smokies?! REALLY?! Who eats that shit?

I don't eat them. I care too much about how I look, and that shit food makes me feel sick nowadays.

I wouldn't say "treats", but I bring stuff in at least once a month.
It is usually limited to meat, since I like to concoct my own different dry rubs and bbq sauces.
My girlfriend is a pastry chef. It's constantly "I did a lil experiment, I need you to try this" or "I made you a treat, here have some!"
I haz a fat. And a tray of freaking delicious brownies in the fridge to add to it.

we do it here now and then. usually for your birthday and then other "no reason" days. i have brought in venison sausage w/ crackers and cheese, apple pies, cookies, and of course the usual donuts/bagels and what not over the years.
funny people start to "expect" certain treats like the pie around thanks giving and the vennie sausage around Christmas. it's fun to break up the day with BSing about food sometimes.
I worked at one place that every holiday was like a family reunion. huge spreads of food everywhere and you basically spent the day grazing. :dribble:
The majority of folks in my office are lesbian vegan grazers, its a rare day a treat appears I consider edible

Our thanksgiving at the Dam was no joke. Shit was 10 - 10 foot tables long one year. Not really all that many people either. Under 30 or so. It was ridiculous. We cooked from 7 am til lunch at 11am and ate til it was time to go home at 3:30. God those were good days.

Generally around hunting season there is a good share of jerky going around, since I work with a lot of hunters.
If it's your birthday you're supposed to bring in treats for everyone.
Srsly? I thought I outgrew that in grade school
At any rate.. I work at home, so I get treats whenever I want them, I don't have to share, and I don't have to worry about some doucher taking the last piece!!

it's the goddam dog!!! if you'd met the dog, you'd totally understand - the fugger can clear a room. On the other hand... he doesn't care if I do fart :lmao:
I do, however, make use of my wireless headset and mute button, should Mother Nature call .....

last piece is my favorite. I love watching people staring at it, you can almost tell their thinking 5 more minutes and I'm taking it. I just walk by and "oh look one more for me" grab and go. then you get the evil stares from everyone who wanted it but was "being polite"
fuck that, if it is something tasty, we need to clean the plates. LOL

you're dog just called and applied for a job. he listed stinky cube mate as a reason for leaving his present position. LOL

awesome!! we just roamed from one cube to another and then around actual meal time we found our way to conference room after conference room. slow cookers were set up everywhere. I miss that place.

Used to but one guy who we shall refer to as ButterBall screwed that up .
Fat boy would grab hand fulls at a time and if you didn't get a piece of something at break, butterball had it eaten by the time lunch rolled around :gofurslf:
This summer has been kind of hot, it's funny watching fatboy sweat his ass off wearing that 150 lb coat of fat :lol
Serves the rat bastard right for ruining it for everyone else with his glutenous habits. :td:

I like to bake so I take stuff in to work - usually just cookies or peanut butter rice crispy bars. I used to bake more but have slacked off over the years.
My boss will have his wife make cupcakes for my birthday which I think is really nice. I would take something in but it is nice to have someone else bring something for once.
I go in spurts too Kelly - some times I'm on a roll like you are now where it is daily then I'll go months without taking anything.

Back in FTL at our corporate HQ, there's always food to be found. Fresh fruit in the breakroom every morning, and on Fridays a full hot breakfast spread. Seems someone is always having a birthday party or what not, so there's always cake and cookies and stuff laying out in the break room. And whenever there is an all day meeting or the like, there is leftover pizza and sandwiches in the break room.
