My carrier is Sprint...Will my cell work there?

Any towers at all down there?

I lived in San Diego for about 10 years and have been to Mexico quite a few times. As soon as I crossed the border, the coverage would change from At&t to some other carrier. I never tried to use the phone there, but I am thinking you will need the international calling code for Mexico(or something like that)

It should work but watch out for roaming fees!

But you have to call this dept at Sprint to add blackberry data coverage in Mexico. It cost like $1 a day for unlimited data. The voice mins will still run like $0.50 or somin. They don't garuantee text messaging AT ALL. I know Blackberry's specifically have a plan and the others have something similar but different.

I have the number at home and will post it later for you.

I was about 1 hr from Cancun. It was fine. Flew into cancun and had good service too.

I must have ditched the number. Just call *2 and ask for the internation roaming dept. It's a monthly add on that you can add on your plan for Day X - Day Y. So it will be pro-rated.

Seriously, it won't cost you that much. You have a blackberry? They have BB specific plans.

The mexican cell companies were smart enough to install cell towers that work with US phones, but mainly in the tourist traps, I forget which standard they use, but you should be alright

Wouldn't it be easier to call your carrier?

Tell your bank that you are travelling to Mexico also, I had BofA cancel my card when I was there.

Wouldn't it be easier to call your carrier?Ummm, no...Have you ever tried to reach an actual person when you call your carrier?...I don't think they have actual humans on staff :(

Anyway, I'll take real world testimonials over somebody answering my call from India anyday...

Apparently not. They probably don't have a website either.
