View Full Version : WTF Comcast
So I ordered new comcast service last week, after shopping around with the different cable providers I settle on Comcast who gave the most content for the price. I call back a second time and they quote me a price $30 more than my original price, hang up the phone and call back and talk to operator #3 who gives me a cheaper price than the original. Wierd, 3 different quotes from 3 different people.
So they come and install the box, the install tech forgot the 2nd box for upstairs and I'm missing all the premium channels, call back and they add them back in but the on demand isnt working and it changes channels slowly, to the point where it takes 20-30 seconds for a channel to show. Call back 2 times and each time they send the box a signal and tell me to wait 24 hours and it should work.
So today I decide if they cant fix it I'm gonna cancel my service. As soon as I say that the guy figures out a fix for the box, gets it working in 2 minutes, and is going to overnight the 2nd box to my house.
I know comcast is known for their shitty customer service but I havnt really experienced it this bad, I finally realise why folks think they are the shittiest company in america, well next to BP anyway

Those DVR's/channel boxes are cheap and can suck wreally badly.
Comcast is great as long as you don't ever deal with them. Otherwise they are complete shit. They flat out lied to me and held me hostage for $500 til I got the BBB involved. Glad to be rid of those assholes.

Never had a problem with them. I have heard all the horror stories though.
For the DVR box that is working slow have you tried unplugging the box waiting a few minutes then plugging it back in?

Isn't Comcast actually Timer Warner Cable?
I had 11 months of free Comcast cable once....all the premium channels because they forgot to turn it off. I had internet with them, though.

As much as Comcast sucks, at least their services work. I switched from Comcast to DirecTV and it sucks; the receiver says I'm getting great signals from the sats (~93) but reception goes out even with a light rain. Fucking PITA. I hate it. I'm now basically waiting for U-Verse to become available in my neighborhood; when it does, I'm jumping on it. Some friends at work were in a contract with DTV and AT&T offered them enough incentives to cover the cost of breaking their contract.

I really wanted to try U-Verse when we moved into the new house but couldn't justify the cost.
The "triple play" prices were pretty close but since we don't use a home phone, we're saving over $30/mo with Comcast.
I want what Chattanooga has. The local power utility offers FiOS for TV and internet. It's badass and cheap. It took them awhile to fight off the satelite and cable companies to get approval to do it though.

We have Charter cable here, and its so bad you just have to laugh when you deal with them. I finally got fed up and switched to Dish. I had to mount the satellite on a pole next to the street...but hey, I've got Dish.
The DVR that the give you was like working a fucking Atari....it seemed to be 10 years older than the original Tivo...it was so bad.

I've had DirecTV, Comcast, and currently have ATT UVerse. So far, the UVerse blows everything else away. Easy sign up, a technician who knew what the hell he was doing, and a very competitive price, especially when comtared to DirecTV. So, if your area supports it (fiber required), I would recommend ATT.

Had Comcast in Jersey and Time Warner now. I hate both of them equally. I want something cheap that doesn't suck, but Uverse isn't available here..

Try Suddenlink and then talk to me about suck! No On Demand service period and they just recently got to the point where they have some decent HD channels. Their modem goes out periodically and has to be reset... Channels change super slow and you have to wait 5 minutes for the box to "warm up" the hard drive EVERY time you turn your TV on even though the box is never turned off. At 3 am exactly the picture freezes EVERY night if you are watching a recorded program. I had to drop my second DVR because if both boxes were recording, my internet would slow down to nothing! S U C K A G E ! ! ! !:panic:

I've got u-verse. It was a great deal during the introductory 1st year pricing. Since that wore out, our bill has more than doubled. Great service, but I'm not so sure it's worth the money. We still have it, but I bitch when I get the bill every month

U verse was great when the prices were low. That was just to get "in the door". Now tt its established itself. Its pricing is even worse than comcast. Why in the fuck do these companies think its ok to pay $200 a month for this shit? Oh wait I know.
Cause we keep doing it.
Fuck me. Its bs. Motherfuckers!

biggest thing you have to remember is if there is only one provider in the area then you are stuck and they know you are, so you will pay to get what you need. As soon as there is more than one provider in your area then threaten to jump over to the other team and they will suddenly become your best friend giving you the best deal ever. Doesn't matter if its Comcast, Time Warner, Wide Open West (WOW), AT&T, whoever.
And dems da facts, Jack
