...Cuz I sure as hell can't, hahah

Got home from work this evening and I needed to lube my chain, so I park the bike and walk up the hill to my little shed and grab my rear stand and chain lube, and I'm walking back down and see something in my tire. I get a little closer and.... "what the...... ?!?!"

Now I've put alot of miles on my bike, and in that time I've also picked up ALOT of nails, especially when I was down in Florida cuz the roads are filthy down there. Hell the very first front tire that was ever on this bike died from a nail, lol. That being said, I've never before seen one go in like this. Had them go in and then bend over, but never just shoot straight across through the tread like this and not puncture the tire.... very strange

did it get pushed through or was the tire just really freakin' hot and melted around it?

Phoenix did something similar a month or so ago...there was a huge uproar over whether it was "still safe". I'd keep it as a souvenir.

Wow, that IS strange. How does that happen, exactly?

Im trying to think logically, perhaps mid turn you could pick it up if you were at a lean angle, but it would have to be sticking up and attached or anchored on something.

Could it be a tooth of some piece of equipment? But he'd have noticed if he ran over a pitchfork.

I think that's one of those super old nails that were made by blacksmiths back in the day. They used to pour a length of metal and pound out four sides. Usually they had a little square cap on them though. You see them coming out of buildings in the French Quarter a lot. Very 1800s...

I was thinking that, or maybe an old firing pin... can't say what from.

Amazing what kinda weird shit can happen on bikes, I had a friend once catch a load of bird shit perfectly in his rear spool slider. Best we could come up with was the bird kinda launched at an angle and he must have been leaned over

Hey, didn't this just happen to Pheonix Rider too. big fuss and muss about whether the tire was still good to ride. Fuck it, I would ride till it fell out, badge of honor.

... And it would have worked, too, if it weren't for those pesky kids and their dog...
(figured if people aren't reading the other posts they won't read this one either )
