My relationship of many, many years, has come to an end. I just can't take it anymore.
When I look back at all the sacrifices I made, the time and money and sweat and energy I wasted, I'm amazed I made it this long.
No matter what I do, it's the same shit over and over again. WTF? How about a little consideration for me for a change? No, that would be too fucking much to ask. Who was always there when you weren't doing well? ME! Who always did all the work? ME! Who took care of you? ME! And what did I get in return? NOTHING.
So, Front Lawn, if you're reading this: FUCK YOU!!!
Go mow yourself.
Asshole.

I wish I could make the same statement.
Taking care of my parent's acre property (ya I know it's not a lot) has become a full time job!
ha ha, this thread has potential.
I should take a pic of mine, I gave up about 2 months ago when it turned brown even though I was spending a fortune in water on the damn thing. So I stopped watering and didn't cut for almost two months.

Front lawns only exist for appearance reasons. "Look at Joe, he must be upper-crust, his lawn is so big and nice."
Now, a back yard serves a purpose (for those who actually make use of it). Front lawn? Image only.

My front lawn is nice - it's small and doesn't require a lot of tending.
My back lawn... the dog will glare at me because it's a jungle.

Same here.
We have a yard guy so it still gets cut.
I got an $869 water bill last month, so the sprinklers have been shut off until that issue gets resolved.
The front does look TOO bad, the back is awful.

That's basically what I asked the water department.
I think there are laundromats that use less water in a month.
You'd think I would have the greenest grass in the neighborhood but that wasn't the case. All that water wasted and we still had brown spots. :?:

Have them reread your meters. Its entirely possible they put the wrong number in while billing or the guys gave them the wrong number. I deal with this daily. I had one guy have a 1 mil plus water bill. Sadly the computer doesnt catch things like that. If they reread it and it shows a leak, they should give you a courtesy credit if you provide a letter of repair or copy of a bill.

I had a well put in at the same time the irrigation system was installed....it's been well worth the initial investment as I water as needed without the punitive water bills.
Having said that, I'm pretty burned out on mowing. It's been 100F+ for about two weeks straight here and that has slowed down the growth a lot. Laying down the fall fertilizer and having all that fescue go dormant for the season isn't going to hurt my feelings a bit.

we have no water meter - and our lawn is still dry and dead. In Seattle. Ya, I suck. But it drives my neighbor nuts (his lawn is PRISTINE!) and I don't have to mow. So whatever. win win I say.

I checked the meter myself.
Unless the first reading was wrong, the bill is accurate.
We are still trying to determine the source of the waste and are working on getting a credit.
I also had the city install the proper sized meter as the house came equipped with a meter big enough for a farm.
The way it was set up, even if I used the same amount of water as my neighbor, I'd still be paying 40% more. :wtfru:

I'm taking care of my parent's place right now while they're on holidays.
The lawn gets mowed every 5 days and each time you do it you have to go a different direction. Sheesh!

Those who are having problems with brown grass, are you watering it during the dark hours, like you should? If you water it during the daylight, the sunlight gets magnified by the water droplets, burning the grass. Plus the obvious evaporation.

Sounds like you have a broken pipe somewhere...
It's takes me 2.5 hours to mow. I have 2 acres part of which is bush hogged once a month as it was former pasture. The first mow I had a service do it and the guy couldn't finish it because it was so thick. He then mentioned that 'if' I would fertilize the front yard it would look prettier. BWAHAHAHA! No way in hell am I fertilizing!!!! He is nuts!!
The upside is that I only have one neighbor that can even SEE my yard and there is a pasture between us at that.
I am so done with mowing. It was fun at first but it takes too long to do it!!

You must really miss the "good old days" of the old testament, eh?
Then? Animals to be sacrificed to your old man's glory.
Now? Animals to eat you out of house and home and shit all over your back yard.
Your club has really hit on hard times, dude.

I mow every week... takes about 20-25 minutes... small yard. I thought I was going to get away without mowing this week... yard was perfect and brown... But noooooooooooo... we got about 3" of rain in two hours yesterday... guaranteed by Saturday it'll clog the mower.

Right now, there's a lost tribe of pygmies in the back yard, and I think I've spotted a small herd of Elephant in the densest regions of the front yard, over the septic tank.
Sadly, my relationship with my lawn cannot even be described as love/hate.
It's just pure hate.

My dad owns a lawn spraying business, so obviously it looks pristine. We typically mow every 4 days. Different directions every time. I really don't mind mowing since we have a riding mower and I just rock out to the ipod.
Captain Morgan

I bought a riding mower a couple months ago because it was such a pain in the ass to mow my lawn. The lawn is very lumpy and it would take me about an hour to push mow it. I hated every minute of it. But, after getting the riding mower, it's not a problem anymore. However, I do NOT water my lawn and have no intention of ever doing so.

We just moved in to our place last weekend and the yard scares me. I've never watered a plant in my life. Ever. Now, I have a jungle of green crap everywhere and I am supposed to make sure it doesn't die or my new neighbor Larry will be very upset with me. Apparently he planted all that shit 3 years ago. I think I'll let him take care of it then.

It's under 2 acres and I don't have a ton of storage space so that mower worked the best. I can store it behind the bike when the snowmobile comes out for the winter and still get both cars into the garage

Crap this reminds me that I need to mow the lawn before we go out of town tomorrow. I can't do it tonight because I need to install a new computer (PCM) in my dad's PT Cruiser that took a dump and by the time I drive down to where he lives and do that and then drive home it will be too late. Oh well it'll be cooler in the morning to do it anyways. :idk:
I mow/edge/weedwhack once a week...not a big lawn to mow.
$800 + water bill ? :whatwhat:

It takes me about 1hr to trim/mow(bag)/blow my yard for front & back. Maybe another 15 mins to include spot spraying weeds in backyard and picking up dog poop
2 hours in last night the belt jumped, then started smoking.. Anyone want to come help me put the new belt on this week before my yard eats my house?
