I'm talking about why these people are into putting so much time, money, and effort into a costume just so people will take pictures of them. Outside of Halloween or some nerd convention, it's going to sit unused. :idk:

I own a pistol that sat for 3 years without me shooting it. Finally did a couple weeks ago. I have a second 360 that just sits here. I have a gps that's collecting dust. I have a bunch of pc games I havent played it that I bought months ago. I have three exhaust cans and only use one.
Stuff I shouldn't have bought but did any ways.

I have yet to go to somewhere that does cosplay. I have always wanted to go to experience it in person.

It's kinda like having Halloween on other days of the year, around a crap ton of fellow nerds (some way more nerdy than even I'll admit to being). :lol: If you're not a huge nerd/geek/dork, it's hard to explain the draw.
That being said, I haven't been to a convention since I was in high school, so... :idk:

The draw is simple: to get attention and compliments. Half of them probably don't even know anything about the characters they portray. Someone else picked it for them.
The other half are genuinely interested in the characters, and see it as a challenge to emulate them as well as they can, kind of like an actress plays a part.

I really wanted to get out to the last Toronto ComicCon to try and get some shots of the Cosplayers and Steampunks, but I got tied up on something else :(
