Not a bad idea or alternative for somebody wanting some tunes.

No offense but loud stereos on bikes are the same as loud stereos in cars...they are all about "look at me" and have nothing to do with the driver/rider's enjoyment. Helmet speakers or earbuds do a much better job of providing music to the rider than any stereo system ever could. Besides, where's the bass? These setups always sound crappy, tinny and distorted IMHO.

No I get it but $150 would have been slightly high for what's included

What's considered loud?

And you wear ear plugs while driving your car/truck?

No because I don't have a super loud exhaust on my car that would give me a headache if I didn't wear earplugs...

So instead of buying ear buds that fit in your ear, block noise and play music, you get a super loud bike stereo that can play over your straight pipes, helmet and ear plugs? Um okay, that makes much more sense. I can't understand why the people next to you in the Honda are pissed... screw their sleeping baby. I use helmet speakers so I can hear my music, radar detector, etc. I'm not trying to impress everyone with my Uriah Heap, ACDC or Van Halen collection. You may not admit it but you know as well as I do that everytime some kid pulls up to you with a loud stereo banging out rap you get irritated. What's the difference? Why is it okay for guys on full dressers to do it?

I'm with tigger on this one. It's funny sometimes when I run into the stereo setup people at the gap. They always have their best rock song going when they come into the gap, but when I catch them out on the road they usually have something shitty going. I have heard britney spears coming from one of these before. Classic.

What you're saying makes a lot of sense. And I agree with it. But I wouldn't wear ear buds to listen to music. I wear ear plugs now, but thats b/c wind noise gives me a massive headache. If I was going to listen to music I'd have an outboard stereo set up...I like to be able to hear what's going on around me.

FWIW my helmet speakers still allow me to hear somewhat...depends on the volume of course. I'd imagine the same holds true for an out board unit. As loud as some of these guys have them going, I doubt that they can hear anything else.:idk: If you are already wearing earplugs, I don't see how helmet speakers could make it worse...you could always buy a quieter helmet Suomy man...

The exhaust on most of these bikes doesn't allow for that anyway. So that point is moot. It hurts to be around most of these toolbags with their music so loud to be able to hear it over their obnoxiously loud straight pipes.

My opinion of loud (music anyway) is if somebody not in your vehicle being able to hear what you are listening to from over 10ft away.

It's not just this helmet...every helmet I've ever worn. I just prefer the ear plugs. I don't really care to listen to music while I ride. But if I was riding a land yacht I would reconsider.

But I understand your point...when shit is cranked they probly can't hear anyway.

I was teasing about the lid... BTW if you have a mp3 player, try listening to music while you ride. I used to say the same exact thing but now that I do it, I actually enjoy having music play.:idk:

Truth! I had trouble getting earbuds to stay in when I tried it and gave it up until I wanted to wire in my radar detector anyway. Helmet speakers can be had for $30 or less...

That's complete bullshit dude. I used to have a $9k stereo system in my fucking Dodge Neon (pimpest Neon you've ever seen  ). Not only did I enjoy it immensely for many many years, I also turned it waaaaay down whenever anyone else was around. It eventually shook my car to pieces, but it was so worth it.

So you never played it loud to impress other people, hoes, ect? Well, I guess that you're an exception to the rule. For most, 100dbs in a car is way more than necessary. I have MB Quart Q separates front and back, (2) 10'' JL Audio subs and a MB Quart 5 channel, 300 watt amp pushing it all and if I go above 30% on my deck, I can't sit in the darn car! BTW Dynamat is your friend... FWIW I have well less than $1,000 involved, I'm not sure what you had but it must have been really sweet! (or you got robbed...)

Often, I find the sweet music played by a V8, accompanied by K&N on intake and conducted by Maestro Flowmaster to be much more entertaining...especially with the top down.

Sure, I showed my system off to my friends, we were all in to car stereos. But I didn't sit at a stop sign bumping my shit and advertising to every thief on the block that I was loaded down with equipment. What, you don't show your friends the stuff that you enjoy. That's like saying that only people who like showing off ride motorcycles, they don't actually ride because they like it. FUCK YO COUCH man, I had it all because I enjoyed the sound.

I had 6.5" Kicker components in custom built kick panels (4 woofers, 4 tweets) and Eclipse 6X9 components on a 4 channel amp. I had two 12" Alusonic Alumpa pro woofers powered by some gigantic badass amp. My favorite part of it all was the Eclipse 9901 ESN with an Audio control EQ giving me 13.5v pre-out to my amps. It was so clean....listening to live CD music could make me tear up and warmed my heart. God it was beautiful. Despite my cautiousness it did eventually get stolen, all except for one set of components and 1 amp.

and when you get pulled over for wearing earbuds and listening to your music as it is against the laws of the road, at least around here, I'll drive by with my loud stereo legally.

I also use the earplugs for the wind and that allows me to hear the stereo better without blaring it.

Also when you are setting up a stereo everyone knows that an amp driven speaker will last longer as it is being given a stronger, cleaner signal at lower volume levels rather than having to crank the volume to get that same ouput, except its got a crappy signal and distortion just tears up the speaker.

Just sayin

WOW, then pretty much any stock stereo in any car qualifies for to loud then... Ok. Check.

Been there done that... use to have the big thumpin tunes in a car before...

I love the stereo on the bike, makes me feel like I'm in the car damn near at times. I rock the tunes in the car too. So does my wife, I can hear her comin up the driveway if I'm out side... her windows rolled up... can't usually hear what the song is, but I can hear the music.

Certainly at times it can be an "image" thing. However, for me, it's an enjoyment thing. But haven't we already adressed that I'm not "most" hd riders?

Oh and trip... next time we go to the gap... get your britney spears cd from your car and I'll rock it full blast thru the gap for you. :D
