Anyone have a plan view of a bottling line in a dwg format?

Or hell a gif, tiff, pdf?

Upfitting a warehouse to be a local brewery and need to lay out 2 bottling lines....owners sketches aren't cutting it

CT let me do some checking. I might have some drawings of everything laid out of a open warehouse turned tea factory, including production, bottling, and packaging. That job was a while ago, but the drawings might still be around.

I can you give tons of drawings of bottling layouts, but without knowing what equipment is spec'd, and how much room you have to put it in, I'm not sure how it helps.

That'd be awesome :rockwoot:

I'm kinda right there with you. This is a small local brewery that is looking to go nationwide. They're buying all used equipment from some big outfit in Charlotte that is about to fold

The bottling line they sketched and will be adding is approx 25' wide x 43' long

See they need a LOAN to get the building, and equipment....but they can't get a loan without drawings. And I can't get specs or information because they are buying USED equipment and the rep for the equipment isn't helping out because he's not GETTING anything for his services (used equip).

It's a real circle jerk.....I just need a pivot man to complete this wonderful loop :rockwoot:

All I need is the approx location of where they'll need drains, water, and disconnects.

Below is a hand sketch they gave me...shows as a red "X" but if you click it the pic shows up

You're complaining about getting "that"?!

I should scan some of the sketches I've received from clients. Hell, you got..gasp..dimensions!!

CasterTroy

Oh not complaining......just need something a little more clear to start from.

Right now I've cleaned it up a bit and converted the tiff into a DWX and inserted it into the drawing just to have something on the paper.

I'd LOVE to have soemthing that looks a bit more like what's planned.

These guys are GREAT to work with, and know their shit...but taking that knowledge and converting it to engineer-speak is not their best strong-suit

You know nothing of that :p

I have an important question to ask in the midst of your challenging project; are you getting paid for your work on this in beer?

At the end of THIS job there will be a taste-testing facility....and I at least get to be there for THAT :rockwoot:

Do they have a quality dept?

Been doing QC work for 7 or 8 yrs and would like to help them..

Not sure....but I'll ask.

I personally will help them "test the quality of their beer" every time I'm there :rockwoot:

just a thought. you're not using that design for a new project within your company are you?

CasterTroy

no...just to have something on paper for the bank to approve a loan.

Final drawings will be much later and much more in depth. Just needed something quick and easy so as to not tie too much time into it up front in case they have finance issues.

Sorry CT, I looked around our office and could not find the drawings we had. We must of gave everything back as part of as-builts.

Cool what's the brewery?

CasterTroy
09-22-2010, 07:27 AM
Local one based in the Triad (greensboro/high point/winston-salem)

Nothing official yet, as the loan is in the works. Local competition is pretty stiff at this level so might not be wise to throw the name out at this point, as this would take them to the next step and allow them to distribute outside of NC...which is a big deal from what I understand

Totally understand. So you're in the package automation industry or something? NC is a hotbed for beer, second in the U.S. only to Colorado, for sure. Asheville is beer geek mecca. ;)

CasterTroy

Actually I'm a mechanical engineer (HVAC and plumbing design) and was given this job by an architect that saw that there was far less "walls and interior" than he wanted to fool with.

Plus all the equipment will be purchased used, so it will be a retrofit/upfit that's right up our alley. We just bring water/air/gas/drains right up to what they purchase.

Youre kidding right? Mid atlantic breweries are def up and comming but cant compare to new england or the paciffic northwest for beer/breweries.

Ah, good points. Let me qualify my earlier statement by saying the beer mecca of the South. :D

That works, its good to see more breweries popping up in the south and mid atlantic areas. I think as more people leave the north east its creating a greater demand. I always liked trying beers from the smaller breweries or stuff thats not easy to find outside a local area.

Yeah I'm loving all the locals here.....I love going into Mellow Mushroom and seeing 40 taps and spending the night getting sloshed trying out everything

I've heard also, that Asheville is the hippy beer capitol of NC :D

I only get up there when heading to the gap or going to Biltmore for Christmas with the family.....but I need to check out a few good places for sampling.

What do you suggest?

That reminds me, I need to stock up on D cells...

I spend a fair amount of time in Asheville, and I always hit the Wedge if I'm there on a Wednesday, (it's the unofficial ADV rider bike night).

Let me know if your going to be there, and if I'm in town that week, I'll tell you some more "secrets".
