overall I think they liked the 01 better as an all around bike, as for the GSX-R's anyway.

if my memory serves me correctly

The 08 GSX-R750 is king...

Well I don't know BUT I stopped by a dealership yesterday to pick up some stuff and they sell this bike and had one sitting there. I liked it and as I've already posted elsewhere and will say again....IF I didn't have my R1 I think that's the bike I would get.

I've owned 2 Hondas...3 Kawasakis and 3 Yamahas...NEVER a Suzuki but I'd give this one a try.

08's have more power.

Just called the local dyno shop and the guy said the 07's are putting down 130 with a slip-on.

I'll dyno mine when i get more miles, probably 1000 total I'm not going to beat a fresh engine like that.

Most guys won't let a bike with less than 800 miles on their dyno... for their own protection.

There's no way a stock '06 R6 (mine @ 5,000 miles) is only 9hp less than a '06 750 with a slip-on. I put out a 108 with the wires hooked up to my bike and all that and the same year 750 only put out 117? That dyno was fucked up.

bottom line-its your engine, do what you want.

It was humid as shit here too, I'm sure that didn't help.
And remember, every dyno is gonna be different.
It's realatively consistant though as mine was within tenths of a couple nights before.

I've seen that before, and kinda agree with it... but even if that is true, why would someone running a dyno want to risk it?

well if that's the case, and the dyno was reading low, then my 1125 should be putting down like 140-150! :rockwoot:

humidity and elevation make a dif

what are they risking? if they are responsible for any engine mishaps(i doubt it)-the mileage of the engine shouldnt matter

just curious-u said u kinda agree with it, so how did you break in your buell?

Most of my riding for the first 600 miles was kept under 7500, per the manual.
There were a few... quite a few... times during those miles that I would do a rapid acceleration and run it up to 9500ish and then shift...
Never hit the limiter before break in completed, and only hit redline once...

so basically, I rode it like I would have anyway, considering the break in was done while it was cold as fuck and lots of sand on the streets.

I agree that constantly running a new engine at extreme high rpms could potentially be damaging.

I also feel that by NOT making SOME use of the full RPM range could cause things to not break in at their optimal level.

All the guys I know that build engines run 'em hard right from the get go, and don't have issues.

Most of the problems we see on the automotive side with engine problems, such as lack of power and oil consumption are on vehicles that are used... lightly, for lack of a better term.

So... I ran it like I plan on riding it.
It's a twin, not like I'm bouncing off the limiter all the time anyway. It makes torque, I use it.
Normal commuting I rarely get above 7K except when accelerating from a stop in first. :idk:

Seems to be working for me so far.

Also, the Regional service manager was at the dealership when I picked up the bike.
When asked about break in this is what he said.
"On the books, keep it under 6K till 300 miles, and under 7500 until 620 miles"
When asked how HE would break in the bike...
"I'd ride it like I plan on riding it. Don't be holding it in the upper RPM's, but it's not gonna hurt it to be there. This bike was made to take it."

I've read in a mag recently that the first and 2nd year 675's are consuming oil if they were 'babied' on break in.

Somebody had asked about the differences between this bike and my last bike so here are a few more observations after 200 miles so far. The seat is a lot narrower which makes it much easier to hang off the bike and get my body into the proper cornering position. I feel the bike is also much more stable when I hang off. The bike doesn't move around like the Kawi did due to the suspension being 100 times better. The Battlax tires are very sticky and grip the road very nicely. Chicken strips are down to half an inch and I feel like I hang off the bike more because the bike is more stable.

Sportrider has a nice write up this month on the 08' 750! Their dyno ran a conservative 123.1 hp and 53.9 ftlbs torque. They pointed out that this was a lower figure from the 07 model but could not account for the new ram air changes in top end actual hp. They did say mid range was vastly improved and it does appear to have a very nice torque graph with lots of overrev.

Big news is, as proposed it would qualify for the new (and terribly written) 2009 AMA/DMG Daytona Superbike class!!!! Looks like the 750 will come back like gangbusters!

I just read that article. Nice write up and the slight drop in top end power didn't hurt because of the improved torque down low.

Oh and just for the record, I saw 120mph in 3rd gear this morning on the way to work. :panic: I looked down saw how fast I was going and had to shut it down in a hurry. If anyone is looking for the ultimate track rig.... Look no further. :rockwoot:

Damn the other big 3 for not putting out a 750. If it wasn't for the cyclops headlight set up and the side exhaust I'd probly b sporting the 750 over my 6R, but at alas I do have to be able to look at my bike every now and then. :nee:

Since this thread is already in mid-hijack I don't feel bad about adding my two cents on the new GSXR front end. I finally think they got the design right. I never liked the previous generation's nose. Looks too much like some ugly ass bird with a pointy beak... gonna peck yur eyes out. But that's just my opinion.

I love my 08 750 and before this bike I had an 07 750. My 08 def has more midrange than my 07 though. Motor cyclist mag has posted that the 08 750 has 129.7 BHP @ 14,250 RPM and 53.9 lb.-ft @ 11,250. My 07 750 had like 134 hp and like 51 lb.-ft with an Arrow thunder ti slipon and BMC race filter(was broke in on the dyno). I had the dyno sheet but let it go with the bike when I sold it so will have to get a copy from my buddy next time I head out to his shop. My 08 has about 900 miles on it and after I get 1000 miles on it i'm gonna throw it on the dyno and see what she has, that is if it will stop raining so I can get to ride her.

Also on break in's it's about heat cycles and nice and smooth throttle changes, well atleast thats what i've be told.
