I was a little worried about getting back on the track after not having a dry track day since september. I knew I would be very rusty and was nervous about it also being my first dry day in yellow group with the increased passing there. It turned out I remembered things pretty quickly, got back to where I was in september by lunchtime the first day, and continued to progress from that point monday when Jamie (thanks!) helped me with some lines and tips.

Over the course of a day and a half, I dropped about 15 seconds off per lap. Tuesday, pretty much the only people passing me were instructors.

I'm really happy with my progress. I know running 1:30 flat isn't something to brag about, and I've got a LOT to work on, but considering I sat on a motorcycle for the first time in my life just 1 year ago, I was feeling really good out there (until 2:30ish tuesday... see other thread) and can't wait to get things back together and keep working at it. And the video came out great!

Here's a couple laps I picked out of my videos where I wasn't held up. If you click 'watch in high quality' it looks a lot better. I was pretty happy with this onboard camera setup:

R2ix6WyGEME

I also threw it on google video because sometimes the quality comes out better there:

A couple people taking photos got a few of me:

Coming out of the bowl. Didn't have my torso down quite as much on this lap:

Dropping into 1, had been spending this morning working on learning to trailbrake a bit:

Tipping into 7 approaching a slower group:

Nice pics and vid qualities pretty good. Do you have the ability to relocate the mic?

Yeah you can move the mic around. The guy told me that the tail was the best place to put the mic, so that's where I put it.

I actually think the sound quality is very good for an onboard camera system. Have you heard the amount of wind noise you usually get with other setups? That's why youtube vids almost always have music...

That being said I can try to move the mic around next time...

The prof photog posted up the photos.... only got like 12 from 2 days of me .... not to mention it seems like he's always getting me either during tip-in or post-apex on the gas... it's like YO TAKE A DAMN PICTURE AT THE APEX!! I understand Loudon is very tight though so that's ok... you don't spend much time at full lean at Loudon, except maybe in turn 9.

Anyway, here's a couple:

Turn 6 the bowl:

Coming out of the bowl up the hill between 6 and 7, hard on the gas:

Turn 2 remote-cam. These pics always come out cool, wish I'd known he was there so I could have tweaked my form a bit... this was a first lap, trying to heat up the tires:

Coming out of 3-4 up to the hill at 5, full WOT (look at the forks):

Coming out of turn 1, initiating the flip to throw the bike to the other side into 1a:

That photog blows. His shitty watermark makes the picture indeciferable. Asshole. The remote cam is the only one I'd buy.

yeah that remote cam is pimp!

I think the sound is fine on your video... no where near as bad as most others I've heard.

how much did the setup run you again?

how come your lights arent lit did you pull the fuse.

Most likely. Probably even easier than taping up the lights.

I thought they taped the lights so it'd keep the glass together if they broke... :idk: didn't realize it was because of the actual LIGHT...

If somebody wants to hear the lack of midrange, listen carefully at 1:41 and notice how long it takes for him to get up to high RPM. It sucks getting caught in the wrong gear at the wrong RPM.

Yeah... the remote cam PICTURE is good... but my form in it was shitty... still warming up the tires and didn't ham it up for the camera because I didn't know he was there.

The one right above the remote cam pic is probably my favorite.

I think it was like 240 shipped with 3 1gb sd cards or something.

Held up nicely in the wreck too, just a little bite in one of the wires from a ziptie... need to splice and tape that shit.

Yeah I pulled the headlight and signal fuses.

Yeah the taping is for breakage. They don't make you tape at my TDs anymore unless your lenses are glass though. If they're plastic, no worries.

Yeah... it's especially important at NHMS... the stock gearing on pretty much ANY bike is too tall for this track, let alone the ridiculously tall gears on the r6.

For racing I would probably need like -1 +3 or something like that here. Would need to work out shift points though.

Usually they do both.
If you just taped and didn't pull fuses, it'd be a bitch getting all the goo cleaned off the lenses.

Gaffers tape.
