One of the most harrowing stats, released by the Census last Thursday, shows that the highest number of Americans are living in poverty since the Census published its first estimates 51 years ago.

Just once, I wish someone would resist the urge to pick and choose statistics that "support" their news story. The total number of americans is at its highest ever, too. And the poverty rate now is less than it was in the early 90's or the 80's. (And way less than in the 60's.) Not all that harrowing, if you ask me.

Funny how the news only talks about unemployment. Dum dums. Not all of poverty is because of someone being stupid. Ya'll smart northerners should know that. All of people lost their job.

I wonder what the ratio of poverty to state dept is?

Ha, Washington DC made the list and they have the one of the highest levels of education around and are listed as an area that lost the smallest percentage of jobs/income during the recession because of all the goverment jobs. Census just posted this not too long ago.

Interesting that the goverment can't even solve poverty in its own backyard!
