View Full Version : Default Great way to draw attention to a "distracted driver" killing a biker

I know accidents happen, but all too often it is the "distracted driver" hitting an innocent motorcyclist. This is a good local hard-working family, that I am sure is in terrible pain. I thought this was a great way to draw attention, and even if it makes one person look twice it could save another life.

RIP

Caltrans put up "Look for Motorcycists" on the overhead LED signs for one month every year. I think they caused a number of accidents from people trying to read it (Mexicans have a hard time driving let alone trying to read a sign that is not in Espanol).

Ironically enough, that funeral procession would stand to be extremely distracting to other motorists.

Happens way too often. Cars are just evolving into things that only encourage poor driving habits (smart cruise control, self-parking, etc).

Have you seen the new Mercedes commercial where they basically promote driving like an ass?

"I wasn't paying attention, but thank god my car was..."

That one?

What's next?

"I wasn't paying attention when I ran over that biker, but my car was...it dialed OnStar..."

Haha, that or "arrest the car".

Cool idea but I also wonder if the rider was wearing a helmet at the time too judging by his friend's not wearing one.

That's pretty bad too. The one I was talking about is kinda like an interview with a bunch of fucktards thankful their car is smarter than they are.

They need to make it true to life. " I was texting my sister about last night when my car bailed me out." Basically MB is telling everyone you don't even need to pay attention any more. Our cars will save you. :wtfru:

They have a disclaimer on the commercial already.
"MB onboard computer systems, are no substitution for.....blah, blah, lawyer talk".

I'm curious as to how MB knows if you not going to go around something if approaching from a fast speed. They must be monitoring steering angle movement and rate.

Just for sheer entertainment value, I kinda thought the commercial was funny.

Actually they use a new radar style cruise control. I hate those SOB's as it rings my detector. I do some serious brake checks to turn them off. It's almost where I can't use my RD on any highway anymore because the majority of new luxury vehicles are starting to come with it.

I'm sure most of you have seen this video as it has made its way around but this is BY FAR the best "what could happen" public service announcement about texting while driving I have EVER seen. Caution graphic...

That's a sweet country there. They must have lifeflight and paramedics every 5 miles.

I remember this one going around for a while and everyone kept crying about it. I'm fucked up in the head and just laughed during it. Especially where the dude gets nailed by the van trying to send a text and crossing the street. Pussy will get you killed
