At least I'm only 36. I'm hoping like hell the price comes down a shit ton before I'm too old to buy one.

worked for me. honestly i was expecting more than a 100,000 price tag. That's somewhat reasonable for being the first production jet pack ever made.

interesting, kinda like an updated bell rocketbelt. woulda thought theyd put the control surfaces closer to the motor but i guess theres a lower chance of frying your legs where its at

Cool. Now all I need is my MI armour, and I can go toast some bugs.

I think I would spring for the optional parachute. Just in case.

Epically awesome. I want one. I love the article write up too.

I think I'll wait till they come out in a more reasonable size tho., Strapping a miata on my back doesnt seem reasonable for the feeling of flight.

It won't be long to you see young rich kids flying to their deaths in the news.

Ya know, that was kinda my thought. If you get frustrated by the daily traffic issues, but you decide to start flying instead and theres no regulation as of yet for that, who's to say there wont be mid air collisions constantly from folks hot rodded around in the air with their jetpacks?

How did Harry Potter do it?

Please God, give one of these to Paris Hilton this christmas

Guess the next million dollar idea-Cold Air Intake for your jet pack? Louder exhaust ? What kind of stickers can you put on it?

Will Harley make one that weighs 200 lbs more because of chrome?

The parachute is standard, not optional. :D

I agree, but I've been dreaming about jet packs being a reality for as long as I can remember. Time to start saving! I would actually consider selling the bike if I thought I could have a jet pack in 5 years.

HD is working on a prototype. It'll be triple the displacement, twice the weight, and make 1/4 the power. It will fly, but not far or fast, and won't turn for shit. It will also have factory accessory ape-hanger controls and leather tassles.

I wouldn't even get near the airport if I heard a rumor it was going to be up in the air. I mean't the Harley plane.

The jetpack would be badass.

It would be the perfect Halloween prop. I'd go as a pigeon this year.

Am I the only one who has no desire to try something like this?

I think my fear of heights would just mean I'd be freaking out the whole time. If I could get over that....maybe I'd try it. But just maybe. :shrug

I always wanted to try this, I saw it in Florida several times...as well as someone attaching a hang glider to an inflatable raft with a fan...I'd rather have just the backpack tho, not so much a seat.

Plenty fast when you don't have to follow the road or deal with traffic.
Want to go faster? Go nose down :lol:redflip

Nicely done, sir.

I'm still waiting for the Suzuki version- word is it will come with blue and white color-matched sunglasses, tank top, shorts, and flip-flops.

The line that says it all in the HD Plane video ..."That sounds bad ass!".

Yes. That is the first design point of aircraft. The exhaust sound. Awesome.

I saw a guy on Stan Lee's Superhumans last week that had something that looked like a jet pack.
He jumped out of a plane, flew around, and got back in.

Unfortunately I think these being available for the public in America anytime in the next 5-10 years is unlikely. I also think they would need raise their prices if it were sold for public consumption. Technically it is entirely feasible, but unfortunately I believe regulation and liability will ultimately prove to be the biggest barriers.

As for Harley Davidson engines in aircraft, most piston powered light aircraft use big, heavy, slow revving, aircooled engines that don't produce a lot of power. It shouldn't come as any surprise that HD engines have fit right in to the light aircraft market for a while.

That first one is old news. Just a big ducted fan. I'll wait for the Iron Man repulsors or the Rocketeer pack. I think the Alcohol fueled turbofan would work, if you did it right. You'd almost need to have reaction thrusters at the hands for reliable control. Just like a Harrier.
