I didn't know anybody anywhere actually bought those Icon chaps, let alone wore them.

Bike's looking good, though.

Really wasn't supposed to be insult material. I was honestly surprised to see them- I've never actually seen a set in motion. Do they provide any protection?

I've known folks to ride in jeans with dirtbike knee/shin guards under them when they didn't have the budget for leathers, but I've never seen the Icon chaps anywhere except catalogs and advertisements.

That's how I read your post.... I know quite a few people that have them. Tho, they bought them as a joke, and discovered they like wearing them. *shrug*

Out of all the posts in the thread, all the rest pretty encouraging, this is the one AL goes for??

Less than a year I believe... We got the Ninja 250 last Fall and the GSXR 600 a few months later.

A full suit is in the works... To be honest, I left my "Onesy" at home too. I wore my Icon Automag pants or my ridings jeans and knee guards.. Heck, we saw people in shorts and tank tops on sport bikes... I think she was "moderately" protected. The thing is, if someone was GENUINELY concerned for my GF's safety, I would be greatful and appreciative. Unfortunately, as always, this is just another attempt to belittle another rider by someone who has nothing better to do... Did you not notice that I'm not the one that started this thread? I'm way over being put down for the bike I ride or the gear I wear/don't wear.

She looks like she's having fun. :dthumb:

I quoted this and there is more at the bottom, wierd?

Anyway, she looked like she could handle the bike earlier in the year, and yes those jeans and chaps really cover the main parts, the ass is mostly meat and wont wear to the bone as quick as a knee or elbow, I'd say shes dressed safer than 90% of the bikers on the road anyway

Yea, we have got to get together before the end of the season with Kyle, Nick or whomever. She did really well but I'd like for her to possibly follow someone who hasn't been all busted up. I was honestly holding her up until I got a bit of a hair... My knee dragging down public roads days are long gone, I'm afraid. On the up side, we were never passed nor did we ever hold anyone up unless there was traffic ahead.

Um it was the first reply and the only one I saw while I was working. FWIW the Icon chaps are made with top quality leather and will protect as well as any chaps considering the garment's inherent limitations of course.:idk:

I'm not the only one that's tired of getting ripped on every time they post a pic of their bike or whatever. Again, you'll notice that I didn't start this thread and Nick/Chris can go ahead and lock it.

Possibly, to be honest, I didn't want a thread on this subject started and was taken a back when it was. Then of course, the very first reply was a negative comment about her gear... I don't believe that I was overly harsh but I do admit to some sensitivity concerning my gf. If you wish to attack me, well go for it but I'd rather not have my SO be a target for pot shots... I was banned/moderated for making a rude comment about a member's SO... and the SO was a member here :idk: I couldn't imagine making some rude remark about your wife, child, GF etc if you posted a pic of them on this forum.:idk:

you need to visit, seriously is the most SPORT oriented road i can think of, that being said its not a race track and half the fun is watching idiots go by that are also out to kill you it seems like. Its just a bunch of "like minded" (term used loosely) riders/ drivers out to enjoy the thrill of a curvy road.

I'd rather wait because of how important she is to me. I only left her because she was "toying" with me on the way up. Next time, I'll go with my gut and just have her lead... of course, that can lead to "pace anxiety" on her part and may cause her to ride over her head...:idk:

I must have missed the pics. I'm not normally one to leg hump. Having never actually seen a set, I was under the impression that they were something cute for bike night duty and the like rather than serious gear, hence my surprise to see them in actual use on a good road. Wasn't meant to be disparaging and I'm sorry if you took it that way. I do think she looks pretty good out there, especially for a relatively new rider.

I was impressed with how well the bike came out. Not in contrast to the rider but in general.

Icon might be good leather, but it needs to be snug in order to protect......Jacket looks pretty baggy on her. I've seen what happens when people's jacket get pushed up.......One guy I know even got burns from internal friction even though his skin never actually touched the ground.

But that's just one photo, so eh.

Icon is cut loose for sure. It's not "track gear" by any means... Fwiw I have crash tested Icon gear several times and walked away unscathed. I crashed in a Dainese jacket that fell apart.:idk: Every manufacturer makes "urban" fit gear now, for better or worse. BTW if you want to see more pics, we are on all of the sites for Sat and Sun. We're all quite thrilled that she rides. That she rides well. That she looks good, NO... GREAT while riding. Her bike is personalized to her, and that her boyfriend [i.e. you] are supportive to her riding.

Please do me a favor, remove the chip from your shoulder. Please stop thinking I'm attacking you with any words I type. Geez.
