The attack left the woman with an apparent punctured lung and broken ribs, the Coast Guard said.

WTF? Did she get bitten or beaten? Was the fish carrying a baseball bat?

There must be something in the water there. I saw the biggest 'cuda I've ever seen while snorkling off Big Pine three weeks ago.

yea musta been a beast cuda. With the real big ones, you can see their teeth glinting in the sunlight from 60' away.

According to the Coast Guard, the 45-year-old woman and her male companion said they were in a two-person kayak near Big Pine Key about 5:15 p.m. Sunday when a barracuda jumped into the vessel, bit her in the chest and then jumped back into the water.

She got mugged by a freakin' FISH

I ran across "Barry" the Barracuda in Big Pine Keys on my first real dive with my buddy. That SOB was about 6 FT. long. He stayed under the dive boat using it for shade. I was friggen nervous as hell getting back on the boat. They don't bother you but I make sure everything shiny is covered up.

That would be prety cool. my friend had a 55 or a 75 gal a ways back and we caught some baby large motuh bass and bluegills and he kept them for a while, also had a few channel cats we caught as well, those fuggers ate everything you put in the tank though.

Can you get a pickrel or would have to catch one?

I used to have bluegills. Awesome fish to keep, very active and more agressive than a prison gang with a boxfull of spoon shivs

Can't buy anything north american from my LFS but there's a couple of websites that will mail you fingerlings for around twenty bucks which ain't bad at all. Much better option than catching since south jersey's waters tend run to the acidic side of the ph scale and many fish never reach their intended sizes, also my bluegills had more parasites than lindsay lohan after a weekend in vegas

isnt it just the initial set up is whats tough then its little easier maintaining everything?

AquaPython

yes, tough both financially and educationally (learning curve) if you have never done it before.
i keep a 150 reef, and once a year or so i am buying light bulbs, or salt or some other additives. some things you can get from other sources outside of the aquarium industry too.

I heard the corals can be realy tough as well. My old boss was big into saltwater tanks, I was always interested in them but didnt have the time/energy to get one going. I had several freshwater tanks as a kid and had a prety good knowledge of them but never got into salt water.

yes corals are tougher than tanks without, and stony corals are even harder, Small polyp stony are harder yet. i finally took some new pics of the tank, i will post up soon.

Allright, it just got real. Called the nj veterans affairs office and talked to a crusty old fucker about free fishing liscenses. Got an application I have to fill out and apparently I have to register with the state child support system to make sure I don't have any neglected bastards laying around  no word on how long the process takes. Love this state

in FL you need a fishing license to remove anything (from non protected areas), weather you are going to eat it or keep it in a tank.

If you read back, I'm looking to put a pickerel in my 120 gal. Grass redfin or chain doesn't matter to me. I really doubt I can catch a few in under five mins like when I got my bluegill thus the interest in being legal
