... and apparently it's common enough that no one posted it here?

It's not that it is common.
It's just that it can't be traced to the Tea Partiers or blamed on Bush so it hasn't registered on pauldun's or Avatard's "must post" lists.
Yet.

Maybe not common, but not concerning IMO.
Probably just some guy who used to get off by shooting BB's at his neighbors houses.
Not worth wasting tons of taxpayer money investigating. But of course, they will, because none of them have the guts to speak up and say it's not a big deal.

I gotta have my "me" time you know...

It happens once or twice a year
Hmmm... I dunno. If im gonna shoot at something, it probably aint gonna be the pentagon, where there *might* be armed soldiers and cops at every fucking turn for the next 5 miles.

Admittedly the expression, "RETURN FIRE!" did come to mind.

Well, I would think if you'd pull out a gun near the Pentagon, which pretty much is the National Defence HQ, they'd be able to find you fairly quickly...
And I mean, theres gotta be a camera or two nearby.

And yet they missed a 757 running into the wall.

meh, at least 757 is so big its nearly impossible to stop without getting jets in the air in a matter of seconds. And its hard to bring it down faster when its already accomplishing that feat on its own.

I don't mean that they missed shooting it down. I mean that they seem to have missed getting a single clear picture of it hitting the building. It's one of the things that fuels the conspiracy whack-jobs.

As I recall, they confiscated video from some nearby businesses, and never showed it to anyone.

That's what I understood. Which is why It never made sense. If they had footage, releasing just a couple of frames would shut most doubters up. The rest would just have new material to work with.

Perhaps because there was nothing to show? There would be no reason NOT to release video of a commercial aircraft hitting the Pentagon, that I can think of, apart from basic propriety. In other words if the video was out there, the media would show it, and it shows a 189 people dying.

(not saying I agree or disagree here)
