Heres where it all started.

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/1932/0606081738ih4.jpg

you can see in this pic my line started fine, but like i said before, my feeler was scraping (that white line), and through part of the turn I got some bar shake and just lost the front (where the line stopped following the center line).

http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/9324/0606081810a01em8.jpg

heres the spot of impact with the rail.

http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/456/attid03e9b996re3.png

Heres the side that slid. Some MOFO stole my left side slider the first day i was there, and of course thats the side i go down on. The slider body still manged to save some body work w/o the puck though.

http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/1495/attid03ea95edxw5.png

aaannd the other side. Much more damage, thanks to that guard rail.

unloading at wheelers

http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/1251/attid03df505etm0.png

waiting to get in the shop

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4139/attid03de928cjn2.png

so thats the bike before it was fixxed up.

the only mechanical problems were the front right caliper mount broke, its rotor was warped, and the rear caliper had a leaky seal from taking a hit, the rest was just rash and damage.

Now heres the bike back in the stable.

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/8726/img0020mz5.jpg

heres the part of the resevoir that still needs fixxed, not sure why its leaking at that nipple looking thing... i'm going to take it off and fix it up with some plastic epoxy.

http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/91/img0021nn9.jpg

the fairings i can save for re-painting.

http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/8884/img0014zd9.jpg

and the front, well, isnt going to make it. Im about to go take it apart and see exactly what i can salvage. the puig screen made it! damn things are like 80 bucks.

http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/8555/img0018uy4.jpg

and thats up to about right now. Dont really have the money to start buying parts right now, So im gonna have to wait a bit to get it all fixxed up unless i decide to call my insurance company.

Word, streetfighter until you can get all the right parts. Check craigslist and all the honda/cbr forums classifieds sections you can manage.

Who the fuck steals sliders? And just one??? Fuckin thieves. Where were you when it got taken?

yea, ins would drop me anyways, and i need that shit for when i REALLY fuck up.

2 fairings, and some various other parts are all i need. i just dont know how or where to go about finding the "various" nuts, bolts, etc. is there a parts list somewhere i can check out?

if you have a reliable parts person at your local dealer, you can take them a list and they can get it all for you...find the parts numbers etc...

if you want to do it yourself, look up the microfiche and find it that way, then order them yourself as you can...im purty sure OEM would have the exact parts numbers...also, find a salvage yard for motorcycles...there are a few around and they often have brand new pieces you can pick up SUPER cheap! thats what i did when i replaced the engine in my RR...lemme see if I can find that salvage yard info...

holy shit!! I just googled salvage yards in AL for bikes, friggin HUGE list...

take my word for it, google some in your area, see what you can find, call them up and see what parts they have and what bikes they have in stock. I cant remember the name of the place I used, but it was a GREAT deal on a BRAND NEW engine for my RR, an 05 to replace the 03, ready to drop in with all connections and with shipping costs under $100 it was less than $1600 total to replace my entire engine and hoses and cables...those salvage yards get bikes in ALL the time, brand new as well as older models that have fallen off trailers, been crashed, dropped, huge damage, minor damage, you name it, and typically MUCH cheaper than brand new, especially if you go there and take what you need and you can find pieces you need completely undamaged!

This would also be a good time to switch to engine ice or liquid performance.

This would also be a good time to switch to engine ice or liquid performance.

yes, especially since there was NO fluid in my resevoir. it is leaking out of this wee little nub (the one on the left, on the bottom of the res.

http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/5663/img0024ww8.jpg

and i have no idea why because tehre does not appear to be any damage... maybe there is supposed to be a rubber stop there or something that got knocked off in the wreck. I donno about this one, time to google for a service manual.

Its the typical shit that breaks when the bike goes down...been there and done that a couple times. Looks like it wasn't too bad...the cosmetics just make it look bad.
Just wait and buy on ebay when you can.

found the culprit of the leak. apparently there was a small crack on that little guy, so its drying, and i'll apply plastic expoxy to it tonight and fixxer right up. Then engine ice tomorrow, then a ride up to cycle therapy and see what parts i can pick and choose from when i get the money.

Sorry about the get off. REALLY glad you are alright. The bike will come around in no time.

www.findnearby.net that will give you EVERY craigslist.

www.ronayers.com will give you the micro fische for the part numbers

www.sportwheel.com will give you the largest graveyard for motorcycles. They are located in Minnesota, and are usually pretty quick to get back to you Tues - Sat.

Don't do it, it won't work. Most epoxy won't hold a reservoir together, with the pressure and the composite of the tank you'll blow fluid after a wee bit of time. Ask me how I know....

uh huh. Well i already epoxy'd the hell out of it, it was the smallest little crack, how much pressure do those things build anyways? This expoxy i've used before, and its heavy duty stuff.

Im gonna run it tomorrow, but i'll keep a close eye on it. thx for the heads up and all the great info zoomy.

Well, my experience has come from a bike with that damn Italian *character*. I've blown up three coolant reservoirs - and when I ask about it with the elitest, and/or post on a Ducati specific forum they all just shrug as theirs have all done it too. They run hot, and have a seam in an odd place. It's been frustrating and the answer is to buy a new one. Yours could be different... fingers crossed for you :)

Anything else presenting an issue for you (other than cosmetic?)??

nah, looking at the reservoir right now... and im on the fence. it'll at least make it to the salvage yard i plan on trecking to today.

Other than the cosmetics, the front right caliper and rotor need replaced. Not RIGHT AWAY, but before i do any serious riding.

Trip found me a guy w/ a bunch of parts, so i'll stick with the internet.

but i've also DL'd tons of service manuals, and have been at it like mcguyver.
