If I could find a solid engineering job, I wouldn't mind moving out here. Or else fly a seaplane or join the coast guard  Coastie chicks are hot. http://s187.photobucket.com/albums/x166/Phenix_Rider/Kodiak%20October%202010/
This is creepy though. Definitely a chick beer too.

Stay for a few winters. They suck. Summer is great though.

it's not the winters that suck... I can deal with them... it's the fucking Breakup season....
THAT SHIT SUCKS!
I spent 3 winters and 1 summer in AK...

I hate breakup and winter equally. The first winter wasn't bad, but it got old quick. If it was summer all year round, Alaska would own.

except it wouldn't be AK then... it'd be California. mountains, no snow... quick access to Europe and Russia over the poll...
I miss the winters actually... I'd have had a much better time had I been interested in Dual Sports rather than Sportbikes while stationed there...
oh and if I hadn't spent my two summers in Iraq and Kuwait.

That makes more sense. I was picturing everyone finally getting out of the house and kicking their ball-and-chain to the curb.

depends on the winters 101... Most weeks you're in the single digits... Late Jan early Feb you'll have weeks in the Neg single digits... I had three weeks one winter where we didn't see above 0... with one of those weeks having a high of -10 and a low of -15.
My parents live in Fargo (for god knows what reason) and they were, 90% of the time, colder than I was in Anchorage.

That's interesting... cause Dec was always a HELL OF A LOT warmer than Jan or Feb was from my experience.
oh and don't let it fool ya... when I left in May for both of my deployments... it was still below freezing. and in 07 they got 6" of snow in July.

Yeah, you're right. Riding weather practically year round makes up for the lack of proper season changes. :dthumb:

Yes, but it's still Texas. It's amazing how proud of that shit you guys are, I've been to Texas. It sucks ass. Everyone hates Texas, except Texans. You guys are like Alabama football fans, delusional as shit.
I ride practically year round in East Tenn and we got bad ass riding around here.

you could probably ride year round if you wanted to.
I'd take WA or OR and ride year round over Texas...
Shit I'll take Mississippi over Texas

I pretty much do ride year round. About the only days I wouldn't ride are really cold rainy days. I don't like to ride in the rain, I really wouldn't like to ride in the rain cold. I will and have rode in snow though.

the only thing I hate riding in is mist... where it's not hard enough to sweep itself off the visor... pouring down, I'm fine... actually prefer it.
just ordered some seam sealer to fully waterproof my jacket again(fucked it up washing in hot water)

my hate of the rain comes from hitting the deck twice at barber in the rain. I haven't like the shit since then.

yeah and once you start wiping your visor, you HAVE to cause it won't sweep away at any speed anymore, until you clean it. that's why I always carry some industrial strength foaming glass cleaner... takes dried bug guts off in seconds...
also looking for a set of light weight gloves that are waterproof and have the squeegee on the left thumb

Tomorrow begins the extreme boredom portion of our trip. Stuck on a ship for 24 hours a day and not likely to have any problems with my equipment. And of course I can't sleep tonight...
