What the F ever happened to it?

Respect people's property. That means don't cut across the grass, don't bang your candy bag against the car, WTF!

You say "Trick or Treat", not just walk up and open your bag!

Then you say "Thank You!"

If the porch light is off, it means no more candy.

I swear I'm going to just stop passing out candy, it's so freakin annoying! Kids today aren't worth a FUCK!

What ever happened to "trick" or treat. Trick the kid and he/she still expects a treat. Bitch that's why it's called trick "OR" treat. Parents don't teach their kids shit.

Some of these kids had their parents with them. Just watchin them run all over peoples grass. And I'm talking about other peoples grass.

I setup bench out by the sidewalk to avoid them walking all over my freshly cut grass from earlier today.

Plus some of my neighbors are morons. Don't leave all your cars parked on the driveway or worse yet blocking the F'in side walk. The sidewalk blocking is irritating any day but on F'in halloween? F'in idiot!

Did you have your porch light on?

I mean this was basic fucking T&T 101. No porch light, no candy.

We were in mexico last year, but the year before that. We turned off the porch light and closed the door. It was like 930-10pm and kids were knocking on the door and ringing the door bell. Then knocking harder. I opened the door and said, light off, all done.

This year, we shut off every light on and in the front of the house. F'in bastards!

If I knew I wouldn't get continuously strange looks from my neighbors, I'm half tempted to go put a "Registered Sex Offender" sign in my front yard.

After getting home from dinner, there are people home participating, however we saw no one walking around either kid or adult. No knocks at the door either.

Ok, people, this is how it is. Parents today don't give a fuck and that causes the kids to not give a fuck. I actually care how my children turn out in life and it shows; my kids both say Trick or Treat and then follow up the drop in the bucket with a thank you, regardless if they get one little pack of starburst or a King Size candy bar. People just don't care or are too lazy to school their children on the finer points of todays society. I believe its still called the Golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Gas, its grass dude, get over it. I know you like your lines to stay nice and fresh but, damn dude, damn.

If your not passin out candy let the little bastards ring the bell and knock all they want. Just turn up the TV with that guy that the kid from Home alone used. Fuck em.

As for the sex offender sign......:lmao:.....but I would think twice about that.

We never said trick or treat when we were younger, rather just mumbled something. Just opened the bag and then asked for another handful if there were candy bars. We also walked on the grass and stole smaller kids candy. It was funny seeing them cry over fucking candy.

Funny thing was, it wasn't my grass that they were on, but still it bothered me. It's a lack of respect to people's property.

Oh and if I want my grass to be nice, then I can. I own it. I don't inflict you with my lawn fettish, nor do I yell at kids about it.

People, like you Cave, need to realize... the same compulsion I have for my grass is why you like to work on things in my garage. People should respect it completely or leave it all alone. Using only the parts that fits you or anybody but complaining about some other aspect is just being an ass. Just saying.

years ago when I lived somewhere else, I used to costume myself as whatever evil creature was out then hide under a pine tree we had. if the little buggers walked across the lawn they got the scare of their life. I didn't give a damn about the lawn I just thought it rude not to use the sidewalk, well that and it was funny as hell to scare them especially the middle school aged ones. little ones i went pretty easy on. their parents were pretty cool about it. now days I would probably be sued for it I'm sure.

True. We had several trick or treaters last night. The wife enjoys it and even dresses up as a witch herself ...has some scary halloween type music playing and throws up a few decorations. She thinks it's fun and I'm like whatever and am fine with it. We don't have kids but think most kids are cool...especially the little ones.

I did notice a few coming down my driveway and then cutting across the grass toward the door instead of using the sidewalk to our front door...I wasn't crazy about that part.

Oh and as far as the walking on the grass part ...

I understand people not wanting someone walking on their grass...as a matter of fact in my case I've just recently spent $$ on seed and fertilizer and areation. I have a perfectly good concrete driveway and a concrete sidewalk. :idk: My garage is around behind my house so there are no cars blocking anyone from walking on the concrete either. I had just cut the lawn Saturday for the first time since this so it looks nice and neat and just see no reason for someone to walk on it. Now the few small kids that actually walked on it were being led by their parents so I'm not blaming smaller kids because they don't know any better anyways but I would think that the parents and the older kid too. No biggie but saw this thread and figured I'd post what I had noticed last night. I didn't notice this in years past but noticied it this year.

yo. it's halloween, expect your grass to get walked on, its what kids do. If the kids run up the grass, then the parent will follow them.

and to rangerscott :
trick or treat is not asking for an option of "give me a trick or give me a treat" , but rather a statement providing you with a choice, to be understood as "I will trick you and your house unless you give me a treat"

(and btw what constitutes a "trick" that that you would give to kids?)

pauldun170
11-01-2010, 09:43 AM
I remember the good old days when the trick was finding the broken glass\razors\poisins in the candy...

At least that was the trick the local news stations used to play on moms...
Next on eyewitness news...a shocking story that could ruin your halloween!!!

Then it became the trick dads would use to explain why they were taking all the "good" candy out of your haul.

(mmmmmm twix bars)
"Well...this looks tamper with...you can't eat this. Let me just go ahead and take that outta there"

yo. No I don't expect it. I live in a culdesac and we have retaining walls and bushes and stuff dividing the yards so you can't go from door to door thru the yards anyway...you have to enter from the street.

It wasn't a case of "kids run up the grass, then the parent will follow them" either...some of the parents were leading the kids by hand cutting thru the grass.

Just for the record I'm not and wasn't pizzed about it...just shook my head because there was no reason to have to do it and saw this thread so I posted about it. I wouldn't have started a thread about it...not that big of a deal.

I got a few teenagers in no costumes, but they at least said "trick or treat". The ones that bugged me were the kids who rang the doorbell and knocked on the door 100 times while I was nursing the baby. But there was always one in the bunch who apologized for the excessive ringing and knocking, so that was nice.

I grew up in the country, grass is for playing in and running on, I would rather walk on grass than on cement any day.

Especially when their cars are in the driveway... which is the pavement most other normal humans would walk on instead of walking on the grass.

Instead, it's DON'T WALK ON THE GRASS - and DON'T WALK BY THE CARS!!

There is all kinds of farm land and 5-6 acre lots all over the place around here. It's real easy to get out of the hoods.

Tennessee is the same way in a lot of areas. I live close to be able to do that, but stupidly moved into a neighborhood. Once the market goes back up and we get done fixing this place up, we are going to try and flip it and go more rural. I want a shop for my bikes and room to make a small fiddy dirt track.

One of those good parts of Tennessee where you go outside on your back porch and shoot a few clips of your AR-15 off the porch and instead of hearing sirens, you hear your neighbors realize how awesome of an idea shooting is and they start firing off every gun they got too.

Ok, first of all, I don't care what your grass looks like I would still come over your house to work on bikes because a) Garage is well stocked with tools b) there is a knowledgable person to help c) I like to help others that I ask for similar help.
I understand your desire to keep your grass neat and pretty but that is just something that doesn't seem to be such an important item to have such ire over. And I know that you don't stand out your front door shouting at peeps to,"Stay Off My Lawn." Its just that you let it get you so bothered period. Do your realize that every month when the gas meter reader walks through he walks straight across your lawn? You have no signs Keep off the Grass. How are people supposed to know that you don't like them walking across the lawn? Plant some privet hedges that form a border to your lawn that will keep every one off. I understand and totally agree with the way that you keep the inside of your place and when I come over to work on bikes, I am always putting tools away when I am done with them as I respect your pentiant for cleanliness.
In closing I only say this, "Its Grass, let it go."

Nothing wrong with doing it that way at all but it still doesn't mean people should fvck with/trample on/door ding other people's $hit that happen to have nicer stuff and do care about it. :idk:

I'm talking about people in general.

Fags.

Wow. Twf rox

Most of the time it does and then at other times it makes me .

even better was the fact that most wives would say "not happening" my better half decided to buy a gun and start shooting with me. seems she was too nervous to do it at public ranges. now she's shooting pretty good.
even showed her the site from the IDPA that was mentioned here and she might go for it.

disclaimer: i know many of the gals on this site do shoot so they were not included in the "most wives" statement above. let's face it chicks who ride bikes and shoot guns are not the "norm" in society. it's why we love you.

My wife would be 100% cool with this too. :rockwoot:

We had our little one later (in our very early 30's). I felt the same way before hand but I would have to say it's a different kind of "freedom" (that of knowing you're helping your child grow and learn). My wife and I don't regret having our daughter even for a second.

Thank you. It's good to have input on the matter. Everyone else we know has been dying since the ripe old age of like 18 to reproduce, and other than myself and one other friend, everyone we know has kids. And some folks who have one, and are miserable and bicker about who takes care of it, want MORE. I just dont understand that one.

No there isn't anything wrong with it. I am investing in my grass and just fired the grass service I was using because they did a shitty job this year and nothing they did stopped the weeds and the aeration/seeding failed, but we did have a rough summer of 2 straight months in the 90s. I am going to try doing everything myself this coming year and see if I can get it to grow better.

Yes, my civic was not a pretty. It wasn't a pretty car when I bought it. I am not going to worry about someone adding another ding to it because that is the sole reason I bought the car. I wouldn't have to worry about it in parking lots full of college idiots. I don't have that car anymore. I bought a Tacoma and OWN it. I would kicked someone's ass if they messed it up.

I dunno. Since I do plan on having at least one, I wish I had started early so I'd be done in a few years, but at the same time, I'm still too selfish to want them even now, but I hate the thought of having one and not being free again till Im in my fifties.

*sigh* Decisions, decisions.

With the amount of animals you have, you are not really free right now. You can't just pack up and take off. You have to make sure where you are going allows pets or find someone you trust to take care of them.

I don't see anything wrong with people having them or not. I want them. If kids aren't for you, don't have them. It's not like we really need more. Having more properly raised ones instead of turning into idiocracy wouldn't be a bad thing though.

that's because you couldn't get laid when you were young isn't it? .....................................:lol

you know you laughed.

oh my choice was probably not right for everyone but my youngest was out of high school when I was 41. I was young enough to enjoy life with him and I'm still young enough to enjoy the rest of my life. only bad part was not as much money for "things" back then and in some ways that was ok to.

Similar situation here. When my son gets out of high school, I will be 40. (Actually mor like 38. He is in accelerated classes now).
I was only 16 when my daughter was born. My granddaughter just turned 2 in Sept.

Right and I don't disagree with anything you said here.

This of course is as long as you don't ding my chit with your civic or trample on my freshly areated/seeded/and fertilized lawn that I did myself just because you don't care about it since your chit didn't take.

I definitely agree with this and chose not to have them and am still glad I made that decision.

I like kids...just didn't want any of my own.

I wouldn't want people hitting my old civic for the hell of it and would expect to be reimbursed for the damaged they caused just like I would the truck. I just wouldn't act like it's the end of the world with the civic though and probably would use the money to repair on other things.

As for the grass, if you don't want people on it. Put up a sign. Grass is meant to be enjoyed and played on. I am not talking about a car or motorcycle tearing the shit out of it or 5 on 5 cleat football, but just normal walking/running/laying on activities. If you don't want that, put up a damn sign so we know you either are working on improving it or just a cranky old son of a bitch.

Makes sense.

Yep in my case is was just Halloween night that it bugged me. In general it's no big deal. We've had a long dry spell...finally got some rain...I did the yard the other week...cut it for the first time since overseeding etc...on Saturday and then on Sunday some parents chose to walk thru the grass and I was like WTF...perfectly good driveway and sidewalk so no need to do it and saw this thread on Monday. You can't really enter my yard from the sides because of the elevations in the properties so you have to enter from the street. I had no cars in the way either...just thought it was a little inconsiderate for them to do this. It wasn't the little kids fault...they were being led by the hand by their parents. None of the men did it...it was ONLY the mothers.

Yeah, but they probably had no idea you just did all that. That's why you need a sign. Otherwise, it's just grass.
