View Full Version : Marijuana: A Chronic History
There is a pretty good MJ documentary on history channel right now. It's pretty interesting. They are presenting a lot of good view points and slamming the con legalize people.
Hey, Avy
One of your own, just said "saying smoking it is healthy is ridiculous"
They are also saying that eating it is more potent and that the future of medical marijuana is eating it rather than smoking.
Remember this is not me saying it, this is this documentary straight from the mouth of a medical marijuana chef.
You should check out this documentary.

So, a guy who's touting his cooked products is attacking smoking?
I'll bet the pipe maker attacks cooking it.
The bottom line is, if it's harmful at all, even smoked, it's so little harm, that no one has been able to document this harm yet.
I think if they held up most FOOD to that standard, we wouldn't have half the shit we have in the market now.
It's harmless, even if you burn it, and shove it in your fucking lungs.
Yep, pretty harmless fucking shit.

He was making pot butter, so yeah, I think the clogging of your arteries is a concern from his pot chocolate/rice krispy candy bars. HAHAHAHAHAH
He had some tasty looking stuff though. Pot Nachos, Pot popcorn, and all sorts of neat stuff.
BTW, I never realized Portugal said "fuck you" to all the governments and decriminalized all drugs and focused on treatment instead of prison.
They are actually having pretty good success with it too.

So much for that bullshit fucking argument against legalization, huh?

Oh I am completely with you on legalization of mj, keeping it illegal is one of the dumbest things we continue to do.

I wonder if they've ever really analyzed the compounds in the smoke. A lot of the alkaloids can get pretty crazy. I did a study on secondary metabolites in local flora and we found some really cool stuff. A lot more there than we realize.
Maybe I could do my thesis on it. :rockwoot:

Absolutely. Want to increase criminal activity? Make it illegal. Waste valuable resources chasing pot heads down.
The only con is the health risk. No one uses filters for pot so the risk of lung cancer is greater. But I would be able to balance out my cirrhosis of the liver with pot. :boobs:

For me the potency is waaaaay too high in the edible form, and its too hard to know how much to eat to reach the desired effect. The effects can last easily 10x as long if you eat it vs. smoking it....and I have no desire to be stoned out of my gourd for 24+ hours. However, if you're using for severe pain relief from cancer or something else then eating it would definitely be the way to go. You simply can not get half as high by smoking as you can by eating.
I prefer to smoke it or vaporize it, I don't worry about cancer anymore than you worry about dying on your motorcycle. I can still go 3 5-minute rounds on the mat without getting winded. I can ride a bicycle 40+ miles in a decent amount of time. I'm a good jogger, etc. etc....so it can't really be all that bad. I've been using for over a decade now.

I'm not attacking you VatorMan...but Jesus....who comes up with this stuff? Marijuana must be the single most misunderstood anything EVER.

I'd like to see the stats on this.
I'm not saying it isn't true I just have a hard time wrapping my head around it.
Using your algebra from our cocaine debate:
Drugs illegal = X users.
Drugs legal = X - Y users.
Therefore, Y users use drugs BECAUSE they are illegal.
Y don't use drugs for pleasure, or to alleviate pain or any other reason except to break the law? I don't buy it. :idk:
Another thing the documentary mentioned that I think would be true if MJ was legal. The casual user would never come in contact with harder drugs. They wouldn't be buying from the big bad drug dealers, they would be going into a legal store buying legal drugs and probably would never run across cocaine or meth. That could cut down on the truely bad side of drugs by a lot. Less people getting addicted to the hard shit.

OK- I see the studies. Do we all agree smoking tobacco causes lung cancer? WTF is different except what kind of leaf it is? One kind of leafy substance causes tar but another doesn't ? I have to go back a bit but I sure do remember having to scrape residue off my car windows after a period of (ahem) smoky enjoyment.

They found a lot of the chemicals in tobacco smoke. 118 carcinogens from combustion, only 2 carcinogens from vaporizing. One reason they think it's much less likely is THC may kill aging cells, the cells that would go cancerous.
One study I found, found that pot smokers are more likely to develop teste cancer though.

A good prtion of that show was rehashed (what?) from some Nat Geo stuff earlier this year.
Personally, I am more interested in the medical aspect of it. I don't partake in any fashion currently (it is also doubtful I would even if it were legal). I do however think it should be legalized for the same reasons as many others.

Cool, thanks.
I didn't see any reference to drug use dropping except the guy from Maryland saying it happened world-wide.
It is nice to see a 27% drop in deaths though.
"Drug decriminalization did reach its primary goal in Portugal," of reducing the health consequences of drug use, he says, "and did not lead to Lisbon becoming a drug tourist destination."
Whether there are less users or not, the above is all that matters.
