ipod shut off last night and I thought maybe the battery was dead, but then realized I'd just charged it. Hit a button and could hear it "click," but the screen wouldn't turn on. I could hit any of the buttons and hear the normal "click" but no matter what, it simply wouldn't turn on. Got home and plugged it into the computer and it still wouldn't turn on or show as charging. Then itunes finally popped up and said the ipod was corrupted. Tried restoring it, but the restore fails and gives me an error. None of the suggestions on the itunes error info page do any good, it just won't restore. Any ideas or help? Think Wal-mart will take it back, even though I bought it 6 months ago and no longer have the receipt?

did you try the hard reboot? I think that you have to push the center button and the play button at the same time and hold. Should do a hard software reboot. if that doesn't work....well then.... your prolly F'ed

At 6 mos. it should still be under warranty, no?

Were you making the monthly payments?

Center button and play button got the screen to show up, but it only said "ok to disconnect"

On a whim, I tried center and menu and that told me to connect to power. So, I plugged it into the computer and it appears to be working. Fingers crossed.

Thanks!

That was my next option, but this appears to have worked. Will have to wait and see for sure.

Glad to have helped. I had a similar issue with my daughter's Ipod Nano and I thought that it was something that she did to it.
