nice, but do something about that seat
nice, but do something about that seat
Def, king seats are great to sit on but awful looking. Cb750 may earn a place in my garage as my new work hack next year. At least if I can't find a nice ring a ding or something else that grabs my fancy.

:dthumb: everything but the seat.
And don't you dare try to stick a new Nighthawk motor in that thing. :nee:
If I bought the thing, I'd do away with the cafe look and make it a touring mount. I'd keep the big fat seat, mount up some Givi E21's, put on some real handlebars, maybe find a donor Nighthawk for the engine/head and solid wheels + brakes...
No time, not enough money. Some day, maybe.
if thats the plan why not dig up a magna or a madura? maybe a naked goldwing?

maybe a naked goldwing?
For what he wants to do, that sounds like a better choice.
I love those unplasticky Goldwings. :dthumb:
I browse for naked Goldwings on a regular basis, actually...
I just really like CB750's, though. Smaller, more maneuverable, and with a later model engine, zero-maintenance valves. That's what I loved about my Nighthawk: oil/filter changes, new plugs once in a while and that was it.
It actually makes more sense right now to just buy another Nighthawk. Ugly, but cheaper than rebuilding an old bike and I'm finding several with less than 10K miles. Not *so* bad in black...

I myself have wondered if I could buy and fix up an old CB, KZ, or XS for less than my Buell payment...
But those thoughts are fleeting.
What I'd end up with is a torn apart, no-running project in my garage or whatever storage space I end up with when I move.

All I have to do is wait until Tracy moves down here, then I can just buy him a mexican martini now and then in exchange for all the help I need working on a bike. :lol:redflip

Well, well... my old Nighthawk resurfaces on Craigslist:

Looks like it's only been ridden about 2,000 miles since I sold it in February of 2009. He's asking $450 more than he paid me almost two years ago.
Offer him what he paid you.
He rode a bike for two years for free. You got free storage for two years.
Fair deal all the way around.

I wud offer him $450 less than he paid u. That's only $0.225 per mile.
As nostalgic as the ad makes me, I don't think I want my exact bike back. Too many miles. I've found a few other Nighthawks with less than 10K miles in the $2,000 (and under) range.
I would like my Givi racks back, though.
Miles? Hondas don't care

Wasn't too crazy about many of the 80's bikes once a lot of them went to the squarish tanks, fairings, bodywork etc.

Hey now, here is my old girl and she is an 82. Bought her new off the show room floor in 83.
Still got her and she looks just like the pics below. My plans now are to convert her to a SuperF, which is basically swapping the forks for CBR600F3 forks and triple tree with the stock triple tree pin welded into the CBR triple trees. Then install a set of CBR600F3 wheels so i can run sport radial tires 120/160 setup with CBR calipers. Bike will retain the stock look with headlight, but have better forks and wheel size with radials instead of bias-ply tires today

Happened across this the other day... retro looks, modern performance. Racks and hard cases are readily available and it looks pretty hot in blue... and valve adjustment intervals are spaced at like 24K miles.

Guy may be interested in trading for my Miata. He says the carbs may need cleaning (to be expected). May just go cash if he'll take $3,500.

Yeah, Gas, you have seen what happens to my project bikes. They end up sitting on your lift for 3.5 weeks in pieces. Or they end up leaning against the outside of the garage for 2 months before some lost cause comes to buy them.
